QUICK FACTS

A lot of cutting and sawing movement is required.

Work is mainly indoors and is available throughout


the southeast Alberta region.
Transportation is required to get to and from work.
Work is full-time and year-round.
Regular over-time is available to meet deadlines.
Shift-work may be required to include evening and
weekends.
The wage range for carpet / flooring installer in
southeastern Alberta is $40,000 - $90,000 per
year.

Install, repair and replace carpet and flooring.


Work is available in residential, commercial, and
industrial buildings.

Employed by flooring companies, construction


companies, or may be self-employed.

Apprenticeship opportunities are available.

WHAT EMPLOYERS LOOK FOR

NATURE OF WORK

Estimating the amount of carpet / flooring required.


Removing existing floor coverings.

Preparing area to receive flooring (scraping, sweeping,


laying underlay, etc.).

Laying out carpet or flooring to measure.


Determining the best place for seams and joints.
Cutting material to fit.
Stretching, tacking or gluing carpet & flooring to the
floor.

Attaching carpet seams together.


Heavy lifting is required.

Long periods of kneeling.
