The average age of top Korean executives has gone from 60.1 to 54. 7 over
the last decade, a drop of 5.4 years. This was determined by comparing
the results of a recent survey of 500 business leaders at the country's top
companies with a similar survey taken ten years ago.
The percentage of executives in their fifties went up to 47%, an increase of
17%, while the percentage of both those in their sixties and those in their
forties shrank. The number of top executives in their thirties was ,about the
same-only about 2%. Ten years ago, almost 16% of executives were in
their seventies, while in this year's survey, none was over the age of 70.
It was also learned from the survey that, on the average, high-level
executives work about 11 hours a day. Ten years ago, most high-level
executives were working an average of 13 hours a day.

Dear Paula:
I don't know if you remember me, but we met once or twice during the merger discussions. I am a
sales representative at Pacific Brands. I wanted to comment on your recent memo. While I agree that
having a single e-mail address format is a good idea, I think we need to be somewhat flexible about
it. I have been working for Pacific Brands for 15 years, and our clients and my colleagues know me
as J.J., not as Joshua James. If we format our e-mail addresses in the way you suggest, no one will
recognize my e-mails when they check their inboxes.
One other point: I think you should reconsider how names are divided in e-mail addresses. In our
system, e-mail addresses are automatically underlined, and so the divider will seem to disappear.
Regards,
J. J. McKey

by Anika Rosi
To the Editor:
I enjoyed Ms. Rosi's article about Velib' in last month's New Traveler. The improvements have helped , but
Paris isn't a paradise for bicyclists yet. There are still areas where cars definitely pose dangers to cyclists.
I also wish the author had mentioned that Paris is following other European cities such as Amsterdam ,
Stockholm , Vienna , and Barcelona. And in Germany, we have a program that allows you to unlock rental
bikes at rail stations using your cell phone.

Thanks for letting me know about the interview, Jack. What great news! This could be a real dream job
for you. I'm so glad we spent that time polishing up your resume in January.
Just some quick hints ...
* Find out as much as you can about the company on the Internet
* Find out from his admin assistant exactly where and when the interview will be
* Bring your laptop and show him the videos that you worked on when you were an intern
* This might be the time for you to buy a good suit!
* Mention that you spent a semester in Italy when you were in high school
* Be sure to let him know that you won't be available until after graduation in early May.
