    Wings of the Enneagram

    Each Core Type has a number to the left and right of it on the
    Enneagram. Neighboring numbers are called Wings and they give
    insight into the Core Types tendencies.
    No one is a purely Core Type. For instance, no one holds only the traits
    of Type Two. Everyone shares traits with their Wings and one Wings

    In the example below we represent the dominant Wing like this: 2w1

    or 2w3. The 2 signifies the Core Type. w stands for Wing. The 1 or 3
    shows the dominant Wing.

    While each Wing reveals some traits of the Core Type, its important to
    understand that those traits always serve the core personality first.
    For instance you might meet a 2w1, and he seems very principled (a
    Type 1 trait), but those principles are directed toward helping other
    people. (A focus on love is a 2 trait.)
    Identifying the focus of personality traits helps you identify an
    individuals core personality underneath.
    NOTE: All types share traits with both wings, but one is always
    dominant. It may not always be clear since some people share many
    traits with both wings.
