Colonies SCAMPER activity:

SCAMPER Activity:
Work in pairs using your knowledge of the 13 colonies and your creative
imaginations to answer the SCAMPER questions about this historical event. Each
pair will write answers to share with the class. Whenever possible, you should
support your creative answers with evidence from the informational texts you have
read.
Substitute:
What might have happened if the 13 colonies had never been established? How
would our world be different today?
Combine:
What might have happened if an artisan, a laborer, and an apprentice were all the
same job? What would that have looked like? What kind of jobs would they do?
Draw a cartoon strip showing what might have happened.
Adapt:
How might history have been different if the Appalachian Mountains had not been a
boundary for the colonists?
Modify:
How might our lives be different if Benjamin Franklin never invented electricity?
Write a story on what our world would be like without it.
Put to other use:
What if William Penn did not support freedom of religion, but instead pushed one
religion on all of the middle colonists? Write a speech he might have given against
tolerance of religion.
Eliminate:
How might history have been different if the triangular trade had never been
established? How would the colonists have been impacted? Come up with an
alternative solution if this had been the problem.
Rearrange/Reverse/Revenge:
What would the colonies have been like if there was no divide? (no New England,
Middle, and Southern, but all just one colony).
