What We Are Up to

Language Arts: Two weeks ago we learned about

a folktale from Mexican tradition. Students
discussed what folktales were and how to find
the message of the story! Students worked on
their retell skills but recaping the beginning,
middle, and end of the story. Students also
worked on their For Sale Haunted House writing.
Students learned about commas and where to
put them in their writing.
Last week we read the Kamishibai Man, a story
about a Japanese storyteller. Students worked
hard to figure out cause and effects events of the
story. We continued to work on our opinion
piece-Why is your invention the best Invention.
We will be completing this 5 paragraph paper in
the upcoming weeks
Math: Students have been rocking chapter 3 in
Math. We have learned different strategies for
adding and subtracting. We also reviewed how to
make some awesome estimations. If you would
like to continue Math facts at home, Front Row is
a great site that can help!
Science/Social Studies: Students blew the socks
off the school with their awesome ecosystem
projects. I am so proud of all the work they did
and everyone enjoyed listening to their
presentations. We began our Social Studies unit
last week. We are learning about the government
and its different branches. Students will be
creating campaign posters for book voting
that we will do in class
Religion: We have begun our exploration of
ordinary time as well as exploring good
sanitarians in real life!
