Diocese of St Mark the Evangelist Final Year Planner Notes for 2014

Diocese of St Mark the Evangelist

Year Planning Notes for 2014
2) Because of the number of parishes, I can only
schedule one visit to most. Parishes may
decide whether or not to use this visit for
Confirmations. Other dates are reserved for
special events (like Institution of new Rectors).
3) I have scheduled three visits each to Sibasa
and Sekhukhuneland because they are in the
process of multiplication.
4) I have planned 3 meetings of Diocesan
Standing Committee, Diocesan Finance
Board and Trustees. In order to save on
transport costs, we are experimenting with
clustering these meetings together. If you attend
several of these meetings and come from far,
please make a plan to sleep over in Polokwane.
5) The Finance Working Committee will meet
between Trustees and DFB meetings to monitor
financial progress.
6) In addition to the above, there will be an
Archdeacons Lekgotla and a DFB Lekgotla.
7) I have proposed 3 Dates for Archdeaconry
Council Meetings (fitting in with Budget
deadlines). Archdeacons and the Leadership
Team should agree on how best to include
leadership training in these dates. Archdeacons
and the Leadership Team are free to agree on a
4th meeting if it will help them in their work.
8) The Diocesan Leadership Team will focus on
training and equipping Chapelry leaders this year
and helping Parishes to form Clusters where
multiplication in planned. They will work with
Archdeacons and Parishes to set dates.
9) We have tried to include all Diocesan and
Archdeaconry events in this diary. Together with
Chapter, I feel strongly that we should not
overburden members of the Diocese with more
meetings than necessary!
10) Growing Lay Ministers covers training in these
4 areas:
Pastoral Care: Every parish is asked to invite
a CL team to conduct a 5 hour Christian
Listening (1) workshop for them.
Preachers: Langham Preaching in May will
cover Level 2 (New Testament)
Worship Leaders:
Youth Pastors:
11) Bishops Lent Teaching at Christ Church
Cathedral will take place at 6pm on Wednesday
evenings during Lent on the theme: Celebrate
Gods Good Gifts How to make the most of
all Gods good gifts to us.

Notes
1) All stipendiary clergy are expected to be present
at Clergy Fellowship days, Clergy School and
Clergy Retreat. And it will be great if as many
Self Supporting Clergy as possible can join us.
There are all sorts of important issues that I am
hoping to deal with!
