Y2 Lab Presentation Criteria

Time allocated: 10 minutes

A lab presentation is similar to a lab report, but is presented in powerpoint instead of words.
Typically, in a good presentation, there will not be many words on a slide, but the speakers will tell the
whole story in an engaging manner.
Below are the main criteria to include in your presentation:
1) Introduction
A brief background on the process, the theory you are following
Aim of the experiment
2) Results
Presented in graphs (properly labeled, captioned and with units)
Keep the tables to the appendix not necessary to show the tabulated results
Explain how the results were obtained (you may show some key equations)
3) Discussion
Similar to the lab report, discuss about your results
Reference your explanation and compare with the literature
Explain the discrepancies with the aid of literature and theories
4) Conclusion
Have you achieved your aims?
What can you conclude from your results?
5) References and appendices
All the references used
Sample calculations
Remember, you will be assessed based on the time, visual aspect of the slides prepared, content of the
slides, way of presentation (ie. engaging the audience), and how do you answer to questions towards the
end of your presentation.
