Blurb-
Bored of the family mayhem, Alice stumbles onto a night out that she would
have never imagined. As the night continues, she unfolds a magical world with
magical characters, she finds herself noticing things out of the ordinary.
Format-
This radio drama will become a series; I will leave the episode on a cliff hanger,
making the audience wonder what is going to happen next to Alice. I would then
create more episodes creating different exciting stories each time, which keeps
the targeted audience interested, and like the drama more and more each time it
comes out.
Outline-
I am going to take the genre of fantasy and create something more realistic, and
something as though the middle generation would feel more able to the relate to
the story. I will make Alice have the same experience as when she was younger,
by going into a different world- but making it more realistic and taking placed
round London town. She will start by getting into a taxi after leaving a boring
family party, which leads her into the club called the hatter. This will make the
targeted audience notice slight similarities between the two shows but will have
to think out of their imagination what is going to take place next. She starts to
enjoy herself and meets a strange looking woman, they start talking and the
queen of hearts puts a date rape drug into Alices drink. She stumbles into the
hatters office (thinking it is the bathroom) to become part of the famous tea
party. This scene will take place for a while until the ending of Alice having to
hide away from the queens guards in the cupboard and the ending will leave the
audience hearing Alice heavy breathing, and the door of the cupboard opening.
This will leave the audience wondering what will happen next and worry about
Alice. There will be no resolution within this episode, just a continued conflict.
Narrative Structure-
This will be done in a linear form, I feel as though this makes it more likely that
the audience will continue to follow what is happening and understand what is
happening. At the beginning of my production, I will have Alice leaving her
families party, which will be clear enough for the audience to gather by the use
of wording and speech. The middle section will be based on the clubbing
experience and how Alice has to deal with what is happening. The middle section
will also involve the Hatters office scene. This is done in the same place as the
clubbing experience as they link together, and the audience will feel more
engaged as it will flow nicely and mix into one rather than changing scenes. The
ending will involve Alice having to try to hide from the guards. Then having a cliff
hanger ending of the cupboard door opening. I prefer a linear production to a
nonlinear as it makes a lot more sense to the audience, and as it is only audio
recordings, it is already going to be difficult for the audience to create a picture
in their minds, let alone when the production is in a different order.
Character profile-
Alice-
Alice is 18 years of age. She is very outgoing, gets bored easily and has slight
OCD about her personal belongings and how her clothing look. She is a blonde-
haired woman, which has a slight silver look to it. Her mother died when she was
young, and her father struggles bringing up a teenager girl. There is a new
stepmother involved in the family, which always makes alice look after the twin
step brothers as she wants to go out. She is middle classed and the main
character within my drama. Her strong features involve her eyes and her bright
hair. She is planning to go off to university to move away from her home town
and start fresh, she finds it difficult to make close friends and that is why she
distant herself from the real world.
Mad Hatter-
Hatter is 30 years old. Completely mad and is mentally disturbed for different
reasons. His family passed away early on when he was a baby and moved a
lot through different families as no one could control him. He is now upper class
and has a lot of wealth from opening up his own club. His hair (bright red)
contrasting with his light skin is his strong feature.
The Rabbit-
Is a 40 year old man. He is a very sly character, and is the mad Hatters assistant.
He is very posh upper class and is well spoken. He is slightly crazed but the
audience will only see that in certain scenes. He was born into the family of the
Hatters, and when the family the hatter took him everywhere he went, slightly
becoming a father figure for the hatter. He works in the club too, and deals with
all the money situations. His clock and his waistcoat is his strongest feature. He
feels responsible for the Hatter and the decisions that he makes.
The Queen-
The Queen is 30 years olf. She is very mean and sly. Secreative and has a high
level of jealously. She hates anyone with small apperence features as she hold a
lot of worries about herself. Her and her sister never used to get along, with
being in completely different mind sets. The pair battled throughout their
relationship and continued to argue and challenge eachother. She is upper class,
even without doing much work to be in that position. Her intentions are to upset
alice as she is jelaous of her and wants all the attention to herself.
Target audience-
My targeted audience will be for teenagers ages round 17-20, who would of seen
Alice and wonderland as a child, but would enjoy the twist on it too. They would
feel more intrigued with the story line, and enjoy it more than someone who
would not have been around at the time the film came out. Even though it is a
magical production, the younger generation would not be able to listen to this as
it involves issues that are not regulated for their age. My radio drama will be
aired on stations like Kiss, and Radio 1 extra, this is because they are the most
common radio station for my targeted audience, and will mean that they will
tune in and listen.
Actors-
My characters will be played by-
Alice- Victoria
The Mad Hatter- Oskar
The Rabbit- Shane
The Queen of Hearts- Amelia
I feel as though these characters have potential as they have similar features to
the characters themselves. I feel as though they all have strong features, which
the audience will be able to tell by the words they say. It is important to have
actors that are interesting and can bring a story to life, which I think these 4 will
do.
