Colossians 3

Pray for guidance and insight before you start. Please read the entire
chapter first before you proceed with your answers. Read again the
specified verses to gain more insights into the lesson.

Day 1 Colossians 3:1-2 The Heavenly Goal

1. (a) Paul told the believers that they have been raised up in
Christ in Verse 1. What does the phrase have been raised up in
Christ signify? Please refer to the following Bible Verses

(b) If believers are raised up in Christ, what should they do


according to Paul in Verses 1 and 2?

3. APPLICATION
1. Have you transferred your citizenship in heaven? If so, how
do you promote heavens interest on earth in your day to day
activities? If not, pray for the Holy Spirit to guide you and
help you set your mind on the things above.

Day 2 Colossians 3:3-4 The Direction in Christ

1. (a) Paul said that a believer has died when he is crucified with
Christ in Verse 3. What does it mean when a believer has died?
Please refer to the following Bible Verses

(b) When a believer has died to sin, to the law and to the
elemental things of the world, he is freed from sin and has a new
life (Spiritual) in Christ in Verse 3. Why and how is this possible?

2. (a) Paul said that when a believer has died to sin, his or her life
is hidden with Christ in God in Verse 3. What does it mean when
a believers life is Hidden with Christ? Please refer to the

(b) Paul also said that when Christ is revealed, the believer will
also be revealed with Him in glory in Verse 4. What does the

3. APPLICATION

(a) Knowing that Christ has freed you from sin and has given
you a new life (spiritual) when you believed, how may you
commit your life to Him? Please enumerate specific ways
for your commitment.

(b) Do you look forward to Christs Second Coming? If yes,


what makes His Second Coming important to you that you
eagerly anticipate this event?

If no, pray for the Holy Spirit to help you understand the
meaning of this event and remove any fear, anxiety,
resistance or cynicism that you may have about it.

Day 3 Colossians 3:5-9 Putting Off The Old Self

1. (a) What are the two types of sins that Paul says believers have
to put to death in Verse 5?

unclean, passion or lust and evil desires affect us? Please refer to

4. APPLICATION

(a) What are the things in your life today that you desire, that
you put your confidence in, and that you devote most of
your time with? Do these things, activities, thoughts or
desires hinder you from getting closer to God?
If yes, pray for the Holy Spirit to help you reflect and
discover the reason behind your attachment to them to
prevent these from becoming your idol.
If no, pray to the Holy Spirit to continue to guide you that
what you desire, think of and put confidence in will
strengthen your relationship with Christ.

(b) Do you find it difficult to give verbal credit or to edify


someone when due? Are you quick to judge or condemn
someone whom you think is wrong?
Examine your heart and ask the Holy Spirit to help you in
order that wholesome words proceed from your mouth
according to the need of the moment to give grace to
those who hear.

Day 4 Colossians 3:10-17 Putting On The New Self

1. (a) After putting to death their old self, Paul told the Colossians
to put on their new self. How will their new self be renewed in
Verses 10 and 11?

(b) What does it mean for a believer to be renewed to a true


knowledge according to the image of God in Ephesians 4:24?

(c) Why did Paul say that for believers, there is no distinction
between Greek and Jew (nationality), circumcised and
uncircumcised (physical marker of Gods chosen people),
barbarian or Scythian (civilized or uncivilized) and slave or free
(social class) in Verse 11? Please refer to the following Bible

you or talk with you? What may you do in your life in order
to honor Christ in all that you do and say?

Day 5 Colossians 3:18-25 Family Relationship


1. (a) What are the family and work relationships that Paul
mentioned in the following Verses

2. (a) What is the duty of the wife in Verse 18?

Wives are commanded to be subject of or to submit to their


husbands. Using a Bible Dictionary or Concordance, how do you
define submit?

Why should wives submit to their husbands even if they are


disobedient to the Word? Please refer to the following Bible

Day 6 Reflection, Medication and Application

1. Because of what Christ has done on the cross for us, how may
you bring others to Him so that they may also be saved?

2. As Christ is in us, how may we make our new selves as His


ambassadors to witness for others so they may also become
citizens of heaven?
