Visual and Mechanical Inspection

1. Document equipment nameplate data on test report

2. Verify equipment nameplate rating are in accordance with the final approved
drawings and specifications
3. Inspect physical, electrical and mechanical condition.
4. Confirm correct application of lubricants at manufacturers recommended
locations.
5. Inspect insulator for evidence of damage or contaminated surfaces.
6. Verify correct barrier and shutter installation and operation.
7. Exercise all active components and confirm correct operation of all indicating
devices.

Electrical Tests

1. Perform insulation resistance tests on contactor/circuit-breaker, phase to

ground, phase to phase and across the open contacts for one minute.
2. Perform contact resistance test on the main contact of contactor/circuit
breaker.
3. Perform contact timing test for closing and opening of the main contact along
with solenoid operation check. (only for circuit breaker)

Protective relays

Visual and Mechanical Inspection

1. Document equipment nameplate data on test report

2. Verify equipment nameplate rating are in accordance with the final approved
drawings and specifications
3. Inspect relays and cases for physical damage. If appropriate, remove the
shipping restraint material.
4. Tighten case connections
5. Verify relays setting in accordance with coordination study supplied by owner, if
available.

Electrical Test

1. Verify operation of all light-emitting diode indicators.

2. Set contrast for liquid-crystal display readouts.
3. Verify pick up parameters on each operating element.
4. Verify timing on the time dial curve.
5. Control verification.
6. Verify that each of the relay contacts perform its intended function in the
control scheme including breaker trip tests, close inhibit tests, and alarm
functions.
