Psilocybin is the chemical found in magic
mushrooms which causes the
hallucinations.
It works by breaking down into Psilocin
and then blocking the reuptake of
Serotonin, then binding to receptors in the
brain.
This allows the drug to alter the users
mood.
Some of the most prominent effects
occur in the prefrontal cortex which acts
on the cognition, mood and perception.

Your Brain on Shrooms
History
The use of Psilocybin mushrooms
dates back thousands of years ago
when they were used in religious
ceremonies in parts of Algeria, central
and South America and were also
used by the Aztecs.
They had no idea that some plants
could effect mood and senses, so
they believed that these Magic
mushrooms were a gift from God to
bring them closer to their religion.
The aboriginal groups even built
mushroom temples and statues as a
gift for the gods.
Precautions

Although magic mushrooms arent considered very dangerous, there are

some precautions that you should consider before ingesting them.
Steer clear of shrooms that have turned a dark brown or black, this means

illegal.
They are only considered legal in Brazil, British Virgin Islands, and
