INTRODUCTION

There is a growing attention to the importance of involving young Cameroonians as actors

in their own right throughout all the stages and processes of our nations development.
Slowly but surely, many stakeholders of the country are realizing that investing in the
youth means a commitment not only to their improved wellbeing and livelihoods but also
to the economic, social and cultural development of future generations and that failure to
make such investment can result to steep societal costs

HELPCARE as a project has recognized that the imagination, ideas and energy of young
men and women in Cameron are vital for the continuing development of the societies in
which they live.
There is no doubting of the fact that levels of unemployment among young people in
Cameroon is at a very high rate. The difficulties that the young Cameroonians face rest
largely on lack of experience, a tough transition from school to the job market and the
inability of young people to take challenges. The unemployment problems are not only a
challenge for their personal development but also for the preservation of national and
regional stability, economic development and growth.

HELPCARE is there to unveil hidden abilities and creative ideas in young people (The
innovative and entrepreneurial skills burning within young people).
Economic development generally refers to the sustained, concerned actions of policy
makers and communities that promote the standard of living and economic health of a
specific area. Economic development can also be seen as the quantitative and qualitative
changes in the economy.

What is HELPCARE?
Created in 2017, HELPCARE is an association which seeks to unveil the potentials in
youths and to ensure how with these ideas, the youth can be part and parcel of the
development of Cameroon; thus a plus to the presidents and the citizens goals of having
Cameroon emerged by 2035.
The demographic situation of Cameroon according to the latest census carried out shows
us a bulge at the middle level (that is the youth). This means that the youthful population is
high. This is the quantitative aspect of the youth. The youth also have the strength, ideas
and a high ability to learn and to be flexible; that is youth quality. HELPCARE seeks to see
what the youth can do (in quantity and quality) to develop Cameroon.

We, young people, both male and female, hailing from all ten regions of Cameroon, of
diverse backgrounds, from different faiths and beliefs, from cities and villages with
varying abilities and challenges and constituting the HELPCARE community- a
nationwide network of young people who want to build their capacities for effective
participation in national development process in their local communities.

Concerned about the lack of structures for effective youth participation in the various
sectors of Cameroons development, HELPCARE notes the central role of youth in the
economic and, social development in Cameroon and their potential to contribute as current
and future leaders.

HELPCARE recognizes the fact that as young people we have a responsibility to position
ourselves as formidable and trusted actors in the development process and rededicating
ourselves to the struggle for a just, independent, democratic, peace and gender equality in
the society.

We pledge to uphold the values of integrity, responsibility and respect for diversity.

HELPCARE encourages and supports inclusive national development initiatives as basis

for effective political and economic change in Cameroon.
We are confident that with organization and fortitude, we can make a difference to the
situation of the current and future generations alike and convinced that HELPCARE will
provide a common platform for action by all stakeholders for effective advocacy for youth
inclusive national development.

Our Vision
To see Cameroon developed and emerged vis--vis youth and social inclusion, civic
engagement, dialogue and skills for development. Youth Potential Cameroon sees the
youth of Cameroon being part and parcel of the development of Cameroon and having a
feeling of belonging and patriotism. We also see the youth bulge being converted into a
demographic dividend

Our mission
To bring out the potentials in youths and empower them for the development of our
communities, people and the country at large.
Unveiling youth potential is actually an approached to youth leadership training and
development.
In this light, the following components will be integrated
i. Wisdom stones: Will answer the questions of WHY we want to inspire change.
What is it that youth are passionate about and what motivates them? What is it that
makes them believe that they are the right individuals to lead or be part of economic
change and development
ii. Community mapping: Will answer the questions of WHERE we are going to
inspire change. Youth may choose to focus on any community that they belong to
but they will be most influential in a community that they deeply care about
iii. Change leadership: Will answer the question of HOW we will inspire change by
unveiling youth potential, we are introducing a leadership strategy call GENTLE
ACTION.
Gentle action is all about introducing small changes that are sensitive, relevant and
culturally aware.
iv. Social Entrepreneurship: This will answer the question of WHAT we are going to
do to inspire change. Unveiling youth potential means that we will teach them social
entrepreneurship, economic development and a sense of belonging from a
perspective of passion. The goal is that the youth participants would see themselves
differently in relation to the world or society around them- which they would feel
empowered to respond to social issues.

Goals of HELPCARE
HELPCARE has as goals;
To empower the Cameroonian youths to be agents of change by supporting and being part
of the development of capacities necessary to respond to conditions of their environment
and meet situational challenges.
Through youth programs, HELPCARE supports empowerment by inviting youth
participants to reflect on themselves and their communities and the connectedness between
the two-and then take action by responding to community needs or priorities. This process
will sustain the practice of praxis, develop critical consciousness and social competency to
unveil, build and will sustain youth potential and capacity.
By this, the youth will become agents of change as they start to take actions engage within
their communities whether by just simply being kind to others, being a better neighbor,
daughter, son, mother, father, and sibling or by initiating a social change project.
Developing the capacity to engage with lifes challenges and subsequently taking action,
are crucial pieces of learning and HELPCARE believes that every youth has the potential:
to lead or support social change and development. Through this approach, the building of
individuals empowerment will results in the realization of healthy and vibrant
communities in Cameroon.
Objectives of HELPCARE
With the approval and help of the government, HELPCARE will be able to meet the
following objectives:
HELPCARE will carry out talks, workshops and seminars in secondary and high
schools and also at institutions of higher learning. This will be in order to empower
the youths on their potentials and how they can put these potentials to action. This
will also help them to understand how important it is to feel confident in what they
can do and doing it. Empowerments will also go a long way to help the youth to
discover their entrepreneurship skills and creative ideas.
HELPCARE will organize intra and inter schools competitions on social projects.
That is; what an individual feels like doing to add to the value of his/her community
or in the life of someone around him/her. The winner of such competitions will be
that person who comes up with an idea or project and is able to talk about it and
show how feasible it can be with his/her facts and importance to the society or the
person the project is on.
HELPCARE with the support of the government will then sponsor the project and
have it carried out. With this it will boost up the esteem of the youths to know that
their ideas are considered. This gives a feeling of belonging and being part of the
countrys or communitys development.
Encourage agriculture among youths by first developing their agricultural skills
Make the youths believe that everything is possible and that they are part of the
change they want to see in their country
