THE COMPANY
SIRIM QAS International Sdn. Bhd. serves food and drink, service,
mechanical and automotive, electrical and electronic, civil and

construction, chemical and materials, petrochemical, oil and gas,
information technology, communications, education, hospitality,
healthcare, logistics, agriculture, and forestry industries; and public sector
organizations. The company was founded in 1997 and is based in Shah
Alam, Malaysia with a branch in Manama, Bahrain. SIRIM QAS
International Sdn. Bhd. is a subsidiary of Sirim Bhd.

2.0 Overview

The laboratory under the Chemicals and Consumer Section
provides high quality and professional services to meet the endless
demand of industry in the areas of testing. The increase in customers
awareness and the competitive market have compelled business to equip
themselves with the necessary measure to protect their business growth.
Product testing is one of the measured that can assist businesses in
providing quality products to the customers.

The laboratories are accredited to ISO/IEC17025 by the Department
of Standards Malaysia (STANDARDS MALAYSIA) under the National
Laboratory Scheme (SAMM)
They are backed by a dedicated team of trained, competent,
experienced and qualified professionals to produce reliable and
accurate results.
The extensive range of equipment and services makes SIRIM QAS
International the prime choice for all testing needs.

Under the Chemicals and Consumer Section, there are two main
laboratories, namely the industrial products laboratory and non-
industrial products laboratory. Both laboratories deal with testing of
products in which customers have brought in. Under the industrial
products laboratory, there are three other laboratories, which deals with
specific range of products, that is, textile laboratory, coating materials
laboratory and engine and fuel oil laboratory. It goes for the same for the
non-industrial laboratory, which are divided into three laboratories, which
are water treatment laboratory, food and medicine laboratory as well as
fertilizer and building composite laboratory.

3.1 Standards

used safely in the country or exported to the intended country and be
used safely in that country.
These standards are used a mandatory requirement for all the test
specimens; either paints, road marking paints and thermoplastics. Only
when a specimen is tested and passed the required standard can the
product be sold and used in the country or internationally. The standards
are also used as a guide during the testing of the test specimens
(products). The procedure during the test must follow the procedures in
the standards in order for the test to get the verified accredition or
certification of approval once the test passes the required standard.
