WHEREAS, documented facts surrounding the sale of the lot purportedly donated to the
said barangay has been submitted. Transfer of Certificate of Title has been presented as well as
resolution of Sangguniang Panlungsod confirming the Deed of Absolute Sale executed by and
between the City of lloilo and Mr. Arnaldo Barres as Attorney-in-fact of owners as attached
herewith.

WHEREAS, in consultation with the National Historical Institute, the school may,
therefore, be renamed after the barangay where it is located and such will promote the local
identity of the place as well as increase historical consciousness among the people in the locality.
WHEREAS, the Local Government Code of 1991 provides that the sanggunian of highly
urbanized cities and component cities may, in consultation with National Historical Institute,
change the name of the city roads and streets, public schools, hospitals and health centers and
any other place or building owned by the city within their territorial jurisdiction. Provided,
however, a change in name of a local public school shall be made only upon the recommendation
of the Local School Board.
Section 1. - The Lucas Borres Elementary School located at Brgy. Navais,M andurriao,
lloilo Citv, shall be renamed "NAVAIS-BORRES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL";
Section 2. - Copies of this resolution be furnished the barangay officials of Brgy. Navais,
Mandurriao, lloilo City and the lloilo City School Board, for their information and guidance;
