Structural Engineering

Drew Miccoli
What is Structural
Engineering?

Broad Definition: Structural Engineering is a sub-division

of civil engineering in which structural engineers are
trained to understand, predict, and calculate the stability,
strength and rigidity of built structures for building and
non-building structures, to develop designs and integrate
their design with that of other designers, and to supervise
construction of projects on site.
Ok, but what does that
mean?

It means that structural

engineers are responsible for
making sure structures are
safe, as well as building,
designing, and supervise the
building of the structure.
How much does a structural
engineer make?

It depends on a series of
factors, such as the company,
the city someone lives in, and
the type of structural engineer.

However, the general

consensus is somewhere
between $61,900-$104,350
per year.
So.what do structural
engineers work on?

Structural Engineering has

significance in many dierent
Engineering fields, including
aerospace, architecture, naval,
mechanical, and medical.
What projects can structural
engineers work on?

Structural engineers can work

on many dierent structures.

Some common structures that

structural engineers work on
are Buildings, Airplanes, Roller
Coasters, Skyscrapers,
Medical Equipment, and
Bridges just to name a few.
