MATERIALS:
1 piece 12 inches x 12 inches tin sheet
1 piece 28 inches x 1 inches x 5/8-inch wood
2 pieces of blind rivet for riveting
QUESTIONS:
1. What is a tin snip?
Tinsnips are designed to cut and trim sheet metal and other thin yet
tough materials. Sheet metal can come in a variety of shapes and sizes and
so tin snips are useful for cutting the sheet metal to the desired
measurements.
4. To avoid breaking out the wood edge while riveting, what is the best thing
to do?
To avoid breakage, it is recommended that the wood must be placed
in a flat surface and then pressure will be applied.
6. How many 12 inches by 12 inches G.I. sheet can you cut out of a 4 feet by
8 feet standard G.I. sheet?
If the (4 feet x 8 feet) G.I. sheet was cut precisely with no errors, then
32 (12 inches x 12 inches) G.I. may be obtained from it.
8. What will happen when you attach a longer handle to the dust pan?
A longer handle causes higher strain that may result to breaking.

DISCUSSION:
A dustpan is a common cleaning utensil that is commonly used in combination
with a broom or long brush. The dustpan was invented by an African American
named Lloyd P. Ray from Seattle, Washington, in 1882. Dustpans are usually shaped
like a square or a rectangle.
A handle is attached to one side so the dustpan can be held in place or picked
up easily. Some dustpans are small and handheld. Others are designed to be used
while standing; this version has a long pole attached, so no bending is required. Most
dustpans are made of tough, flexible plastic or durable metal. Dustpans are used to
pick up piles of dirt after sweeping. They can be used inside or outdoors.
CONCLUSION & RECOMMENDATION:
This experiment enables the students to be more familiar to the tools
that will be used for further shop activities. Tools such as bending machine, riveter,
and etc. Also, this experiment enables the students to make a dust pan using the
materials indicated at the laboratory manual. Through the experiment, students will
encounter the other methods of bending. Finally, this experiment enables students to
use different kinds of hand tools.
I would recommend to consume the time properly by having proper
communication to each teammates and divide each part simultaneously. This would
result to a faster and more successful product. Also, students would need to be more
careful in every part since some tools would be used for the first time. Also, the
metal tin sheet have sharp edges, and may cause accidents, so students would need
to be more careful on tracing the pattern, cutting, and bending.
