2 Safety Precautions
2.1 Hazard Notices
This handbook contains hazard information which must be
regarded by all users.
The hazard information is presented as a warning or a caution, as
follows:
WARNING
Risk of personal injury
Warnings indicate a potential hazard to the health and safety of
users. They clearly state the nature of the hazard and how to avoid it.
They appear at their points of application in this handbook, but with
different illustrations. Always refer to this section for information
about the risk and how to avoid it.
2.2 Installation
WARNING
Risk of electric shock
The machine is of metal construction and as such must always be
earthed to the supply. Make sure that the plug on the supply lead and
the supply source are earthed. This requirement is a mandatory
condition for the operation of this type of equipment and if not
adhered to will contravene the national and international standards
of Health and Safety in the work place.
WARNING
The socket outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be
easily accessible.
WARNING!
Risk of tipping!
The machine must be securely fastened to the floor. The machine
must be installed by an authorised SCAN COIN representative.
2.3 Operation
WARNING
Risk of entanglement and/or cutting!
This machine contains moving parts and sharp edges. Always be
careful. Do not touch the components inside the machine while it is
running.
2.4 Removal/Assembly
Electrostatic discharge (ESD)
WARNING
Risk of electric shock
High voltage inside the machine may be fatal for anyone in contact
with it. Always switch OFF and disconnect the machine from mains
supply before disassembling.
2.5 Maintenance
WARNING
Risk of electric shock
Lethal voltages exist in this machine when it is connected to mains
power. Whenever possible disconnect the power cord from the
machine before removing any of the covers.
WARNING
Risk of jamming
When removing heavy parts from the machine, for example the note
validator unit, two persons are required in order to avoid personal
injury.
WARNING
Do not touch
Parts on the note dispenser unit, that are marked with this symbol
must not be accessed.
3 Installation Requirements
The machine must be placed on a stable horizontal surface.
Note If the cabinet is skewed the drawers might harsh. Always check that
the cash drawer drawer and the transport box drawer runs smoothly
after installation.
The floor material has to be strong enough for the weight of the
machine including coins.
Ensure that the environmental requirements are met when
installing the machine, see 4.2 Environmental on page 8.
Do not place the machine close to any radiators.
Do not place the machine in direct sunlight as reflections from
the sunlight will make it impossible to read messages displayed
on the screen and may also cause the internal temperature of the
machine to rise above an acceptable level.
Allow some free space around the machine to enable the air to
circulate.
Make sure to use appropriate bolts for the material in the floor.
Before drilling any holes in the floor or in the wall establish the
position of any water, gas or drain pipes and of all electrical
installations.
The socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and
shall be easily accessible.
Note SCAN COIN cannot be held responsible for any damaged caused by
an incorrect installation.

7 Installation
7.1 Machine in Level
To ensure that the RCS 800 runs without mechanical problems, such
as jamming drawers, make sure the floor is in level. Use washers to
adjust the level.
Note Levelling also applies to sidecars. If not done the sidecar may put the
RCS 800 out of level.
Note Always make sure the drawers slide smoothly after the installation is
completed, for more information see the Technical Handbook.
RCS 800
a) Place the machine and note unit in the correct position (see 7.4
Installation Drawings RCS 800 on page 56).
b) Mark the floor through the holes in the bottom plate.
c) Remove the machine and drill the holes.
d) Secure the machine to the floor by means of 16 mm bolts
appropriate for the floor (choice of bolts according to Swedish
standards).
