• Father a Vedic Pundit ran a Gurukulam
• Krishnamacharya had his earlier
education at his father’s Gurukulam
• He lost his father at the age of 11 and
continued his education at the Parakala

• He secured at least 5 important degrees
in Vedic education

Yoga Journal, a foreign yoga magazine, in its issue
May/June 2001, in an article entitled ‘The Legacy
of Krishnamacharya” says:
“You may never have heard of him, but Tirumalai
Krishnamacharya influenced or perhaps even
invented your Yoga. Whether you practice the
dynamic series of Pattabhi Jois, the refined
alignment of BKS Iyengar, the classical postures
of Indra Devi or the customised Vinyasa of
Desikachar your practice stems from one source,
a five foot two inch Brahmin born more than one
hundred years ago in a small South Indian
village.”
