1 Introduction
This application note describes the upgrade procedure for the NovelSat product.

1.1 Preparations

1. Make sure that management IP address is set manually and that DHCP is disabled
2. Make sure that “Auto CCM” value in the demodulator line menu is disabled
3. Existing unit’s version must be 5.X. If current version is older, first upgrade to version 5.X
4. Download the upgrade files from the FTP server, as explain below.
5. Connect the PC to the demodulator’s 10/100BaseT management port. Make sure they are
on the same IP subnet and have connectivity.

2 Upgrade instruction
In order to upgrade to the final version, check the modem current running version. The current
version can be found under “sytem >hw/sw version” menu:
*Current version must be 5.x for upgrade to version 6.1.

All the above steps must be followed one by one for proper unit operation.

2.1 SW Download by FTP Server Access

Download instruction:
You may use the following link for downloading the new SW file, with any Web browser of your
choice. FTP user name and password will be provided by Novelsat support.
FTP server: ftp.novelsat.com
Username: EBUVer
Password: Z0pb6gyx

2.2 Upgrade Instructions

After having the firmware files downloaded to the PC follow the below procedure. The below
steps are applicable for all interim versions required for the final version.

2.2.1 Upgrade procedure sequence :

1. Logg in as administrator to the units. The default login credecials are:
o User: admin
o Password: novelsat
3. Save any configuration changes in the unit before initiating upgrade process.
4. Do not make any changes to configuration during Upgrade process.
5. Open the SW upgrade windows in the Demodulator: via “System -> sw upgrade” menu

6. The following screen will appear:

7. In the Download SW package section, click browse file to naviate to the proper location were
the files downloaded from the FTP are stored and then select the nsXXXX_6_1_XXXX.tar file.

8. Click the OK button.

9. The file will be downloaded to the unit, then extractred. The process will take a few minutes.
10. Upon completing the file extraction the “Activate” button will be activated. Click this button to
activate new firmware. Unit will reboot with the new software.
After reboot, in order to confirm that the SW version was upgraded, check in the units
(System->hw/sw versions).
