Responsibilities:

 Checking the file systems and increase/decrease the file system if required.

 Fixing mount issues, checking file system integrity, running fsck in maintenance mode on
rootvg logical volumes if any corrupted lvs in rootvg.
 Performance monitoring using vmstat, iostat, sar, topas, netstat and nmon.
 Configuring NFS on the servers.
 Taking regular system backup using mksysb and volume group backup using savevg.
 Adding /removing paging space, checking paging space usage and increase/decrease if
required.
 Configuring system dump devices, taking system dump, estimating system dump,
uploading the system vmcore files to IBM ftp site to get it analyzed by IBM engineers.
 HMC connectivity for managed systems (p520, p550 and p570) through WebSM remote
client.
 Configuration of devices CD-ROM,SCSI/SSA disks etc.
 Configuring a virtual scsi server and client adapters.
 Configuring shared Ethernet adapters using vios.
 Configuring virtual Ethernet connection using HMC.
 Administration and Troubleshooting AIX servers running business critical application Like
oracle and IBM DB2 applications.
 Maintaining and monitoring the file systems and performance tuning of AIX servers.
 Applying the Security patches and doing all the change management.
 Maintaining users and permissions.
 Interacting with other teams such as DB team and Web team to solve and fix any related
issues.
 Taking monthly root backup of all the servers.
 Monthly generation of reports for all servers in terms of disk space, performance, patch
application and availability.
 Daily, weekly backups, running system backup using mksysb, Volume group backups
with savevg. Disk and volume management AIX LVM. Replacing faulty physical volumes
from rootvg or other user defined volume group.
 Configuring redundant logical volumes, file systems to make sure high availability.
 Storage management Logical Volume Management (add/modify/delete Volume Group,
Logical Volume, File systems as per client need.

HACMP Responsibilities:

 HACMP Cluster configuration, plan, design HACMP cluster nodes, Network


configuration, configuring disk heart beats, non ip heart beats, Performing failover testing,
verification, synchronization.

 Perform health checks on HACMP nodes, running cluster statistics to find cluster stability,
finding resource group status etc.

 Creating Volume Group, Logical volumes and file systems in both standalone and HA
environment.

 Monitoring cluster nodes.

 Extending shared volume group of the cluster when the system is up and running.

 Performing LVM and file system activities in shared resource groups.

 Creating and managing users in cluster.

 Verifying and synchronizing cluster nodes.

 Starting and stopping the cluster for maintenance activities.

 Coordinated with application team and implementation team for designing cluster scripts.
