Suspended  Chords  
 
Suspended  chords  use  the  4th  scale  degree  instead  of  the  3rd.  The  intervals  between  the  
chord  tones  are:  
 
• A  Perfect  4th  between  the  root  and  the  4th    
• A  Major  2nd  between  the  4th  and  the  5th  
 
For  example,  when  we  add  a  4th  instead  of  a  3rd  in  a  D  Major  triad,  we  get  a  Dsus:
