First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to Felda Palm Industries Sdn Bhd, Lok Heng Palm
Oil Mill, Kota Tinggi, Johor, especially Encik Shuhaimi bin Ismail as Manager of Lok Heng Palm Oil Mill for
allowing me to complete my 10 weeks internship programme.
I also would like to express my deepest appreciation to my supervisor, Encik Shuhaimi Ismail. His
exemplary guidance, constant encouragement and monitoring throughout the internship acts as the main
factor in helping me to complete my field report and also my project. In spite of being busy with his duties
as a Manager, took time to guide and keep me on the correct path.
During my internship programme in Lok Heng Palm Oil Mill, I was mentored by Foreman Encik Ed
Asmadi Md Misran, Head Of Department Encik Mohd Diah Omar and Encik Rosman Mohd Nor and also
asisstant manager Encik Adib Syahmi Abd Aziz. They all provided a huge amount of their time and valuable
knowledge for me.
During this ten weeks of internship programme, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the
officers and staff of Lok Heng Palm Oil Mill for their careful guidance for my study both theoretically and
practically. Their contribution during this ten weeks really help me in many aspect especially in encouraging
me to cope with the problems that I faced during my internship.
I perceive this opportunity as the big milestone in my career development, and I will continue to
strive and continue to use the skills and knowledge in the best possible way.
ABSTARCT
The objective of this experiment is to determine the oil content according to bunch layer and spikelet layer.

INTRODUCTION

Felda Palm Industries Sdn Bhd (FPISB) was incorporated in Malaysia on the 14th September 1995
under the companies’ act 1965, as a private limited company. Formally known as Felda Mills Corporation
established in 1st July 1975 under section 42 of the Land Development Ordinance 1956 as an agency of
Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA).
FPISB has a paid up capital of RM202 million and the shareholders comprise of Felda Holding Berhad
(72%) and Koperasi Permodalan Felda (28%). The company core activities are purchasing and processing
of fresh fruit bunch (FFB) from the Felda Estates, Settlers and External Suppliers to produce Crude Palm
Oil (CPO) and Palm Kernel (PK).
FPISB is the largest crude palm oil producer with a production of 2.51 million tonnes per year which is
17% of the total Malaysia’s production. Currently FPISB operates with 69 palm oil mills located throughout
the country. The total milling capacity currently stands at 3364 tonnes of FFB per hour or 17 million tonnes
per year. FPISB has a total workforce of 5,800 comprising of professionals and semi-skilled workers.

Duration Summary
First Week Puan Hafizah give briefing to the company organization. Puan Faezah and
(17/07/17-22/07/2017) Encik Yusof teach me about weighting operation including delivering and
accepting operation of the lorry in and out of the factory. This also including the
price value of each tons of the lorry carry either the kernels, shredded fiber,
shells, dried oil or FFB (Fresh Fruit Bunch). Encik Suhaimi and Encik Zulkefle
give explaination and practical about grading the FFB. Classification between
each of the fruits can determine the KPA (Kadar Perahan Asas) and also KPG
(Kadar Perahan Gred). KPA based on the age of the tree and weight of bunches
while KPG based on the value after minus with the penalties. Three samples
stages of grading operation. Sample 1, more than 5 tons. Sample 2, less than
5 tons and sample 3 is 100% grading.
Second Week Encik Rosman take me to the loading ramp section and continuous sterilizer
(24/07/17-29/07/17) section and gave some explanation about the operation, maintenance and also
the function of each of the compartment at both section. He also taught me
about the operating condition and the components inside the continuous
sterilizer. Encik Mohd Diah take me to the thresher and PH cooker section and
gave information about the operation, operating condition and also the
maintenance. Formen also help me in the measurement, drawing and the
capacity of each section. He also show me the components inside the PH
cooker.
Third Week Formen teach me about the calculation for RPM (Revolutions Per Minutes) at
(31/07/17-05/08/17) Digester, Press and also Continuous Sterilizer. Continuous Sterilizer the RPM
is 24 rpm, press is 9-11 rpm, digester is 48 rpm.
