Team Contract Guidelines

Purpose:
You will be creating a team contract that will act as the definition of the boundaries and
expectations of the group that you will be working with. This is one of the first things that
you will work on together but it is one of the most important. All team members must
work together and agree upon the final product. This will be your manifesto as a group,
it will guide your interactions and hopefully set the tone for your success.

 This document can be updated as necessary

 This document WILL serve as an abiding contract between group members
 This document can be looked at as your groups Operations Manual
 This document should outline the groups expectations of all members.

What should we include?

The interactions between each team will be unique, and may evolve over time, which is
why the document can be updated as necessary. The contract itself should outline the
basic ground rules for the interaction of all members. All team members should be able
to identify with this contract as their guide.

As a guide this contract should

 Describe the purpose of the team.

 State how decisions will be made within the group.
 Dictate methods for conflict resolution.
 Determine how group Communications will be handled.
 Outline how timelines and deadlines will be created and handled.

Code of Conduct (Rules of Engagement):

1. For the Professional MBA Program teamwork is a very big and important facet of
your experience. Professionalism is expected on all levels as you deal with one
another. If you are to establish a code of conduct within your group. One of the
biggest issues that you should address is communication. It should be the aim of
each group to facilitate open and honest dialogue.
2. Each person should have the opportunity to be heard.
3. When someone is voicing their say, the group should listen carefully.
4. The issues at hand will always be the main focus, not personal perceptions or
relationships.
5. Everyone is entitled to Strong Opinions, but the team should remain open
minded to all ideas and proposals.
6. A different point of view is not necessarily wrong, it is just different.
7. All decisions should be made for the good of the team.
8. The team should develop a safe environment where everybody can contribute
and participate. Please be considerate of quieter group members.
