    PARENT COUNCIL A.G.M.

    MONDAY 27 SEPTEMBER 2010

    MINUTES

    Present: Sharon Connolly (Chair), Penny Cox (Secretary), Emma Smith, Jane Sheldon, Lisa
    Christmas, Jenny Green, Islean Lyle, Helen Gibson, Lynsey Paterson, Lesley English,
    Lorraine Tomb, Aileen Murdoch, Jan Craig, Bruce Lockhart

    Apologies: Martyn Barnes, Jackie Forbes, David Simpson

    1. Chair’s Annual Report

    Sharon Connolly outlined what has been achieved by the Parent Council over the last 12
    months and what we hope to achieve in the future. I attach a copy of her report to the
    minutes.

    2. Approval of Accounts

    Unfortunately, Jackie was unable to attend the meeting at the last minute and so the treasurer’s
    report will be published at a later date.

    3. Selection of New Office Bearers/Committee

    Penny is stepping down as secretary and we are therefore looking for someone to take over the
    role. If anyone is interested, please contact either Sharon or Penny. An email was also sent
    out about this. The staff at the school who attend the meetings are happy to continue for the
    present time.

    4. What’s Next? Question and Answer Session

    Lynsey explained the idea of “Spree” books which other schools have used as a successful
    fundraiser. Jane Sheldon suggested selling them to parents at the next school event
    (parent/teacher contact evenings in November?). Lynsey agreed to look into getting some
    more copies so that parents can consider.

    Sharon confirmed that we have received the grant from “Awards for All”. It is hoped that the
    equipment for the hall will be installed in time for the school Christmas concert.

    Sharon appealed for volunteers for the book fair (8, 9 and 10 November) and the school disco
    on 1st. Please email any dates you can do to Sharon. It is hoped that we will have a
    fundraising committee soon too. Two of the members have had to step down and an email has
    been sent around asking for volunteers. Emma suggested that groups of volunteers could be
    responsible for just one event per year and this idea was highly thought of. If you are willing
    to help with fundraising and would prefer to cover one event per year, please get in touch with
    the secretary or Sharon stating which event you’d prefer to help at. The more volunteers we
    have, the less you have to do!

    5. Date of Next Meeting

    Tuesday 9 November, 7pm in GP Room.
