Effort and Productivity: Rubrics: Level of Cooperation Conclusion Answers/ Data Unstructured: Objectives

1. Students observed pond water under a microscope to identify living things and their characteristics. They drew 3 organisms and noted properties like movement and cell structure. 2. Common properties of living things seen included movement and cell structure. Pond water contains many microscopic organisms that were observed, like protists and zooplankton. 3. Over time, students may observe changes in the pond water like organisms reproducing, interacting, or moving in and out of view under the microscope.

III. Procedures:
1. Using a medicine dropper, place a drop of pond water on a glass slide. Carefully place the cover slip on top of the
pond water.
2. Then placed the glass slide on the microscope stage.
3. Use high power to observe the pond water. Move the slide, as necessary, to inspect the entire drop of pond water.
4. Make a drawing of the first thing you observe that appears to be alive.
5. Draw other objects you think might be classified as living.
6. Make a list of properties of these organisms that you have observed in the pond water.
IV. Results and Findings:
A. Draw 3 living things and write their observed properties. ( Note: use pencil in drawing only)
