integrated with requirements and procedures of CCCTAV JV.
1.7.1.5 Respective information’s will be conveyed to Project Engineer for arrangement of
unloading, if necessary and issue of material.
1.7.1.6 Procedure for Site Incoming Material Control SE-BEN-01AP-PRO-00011 shall be
followed.
1.7.1.7 Responsibility for this lies with overall In charge of stores at site.
1.7.2.3 Manual handling will be done for pipes less than 70 kgs. Above 70 kgs, certified
crane / forklifts with nylon web links will be used for lifting pipes.
1.7.2.4 Valves and fittings shall be kept in suitable covered locations in the storage yard.
1.7.2.5 Do not drop or drag pipes & fittings.
1.7.2.6 For lifting of the pipes, suitable capacity crane shall be used during the installation.
1.7.2.7 Equipment will be transported by forklift / pallet trucks inside the buildings.
1.7.2.8 For movement of vehicles, CCCTAV JV - HSE safety guidelines shall be followed.
2.2 Preparation for Grooving of pipes (Sprinkler system, Hose reel piping and
Landing valve piping)
2.2.1 Remove dirt, scale and foreign matter from inside and outside pipe surfaces.
2.2.2 Pipe ends must be cut square. All internal or external weld beads flash or seams
must be ground flush at least 2 inches back from pipe end.

2.2.3 Check the pipe length as required and cut with pipe cutting in square.
2.2.4 Pipe is properly supported with a pipe stand and it should be located ¾ of pipe
length from roll groove.
2.2.5 Raise upper groove roll housing and open groove roll from drive roll by turning
depth adjustment screw.
2.2.6 Raise feed handle and place pump release lever in return position. Rotate depth
adjustment by approximately one revolution. Press on footswitch to start machine
and apply a steady pressure to the feed hydraulic pump handle.
2.2.7 Keep pressures on the pipe with right hand to prevent pipe being fed out of the
rolls.
2.2.8 Continue applying a steady pressure until groove depth is reached. Do not feed.
Allow one full revolution before increasing pressure on the rolls to prevent
overload.
2.2.9 Further grooves with the same pipe will be made to the same depth.
2.2.10 Raise handle or release pressure and pipe.
2.3 Preparation for Threading of pipes (Sprinkler system, Hose reel & Landing
Valve)
2.3.1 Remove dirt, scale and foreign matter from inside and outside pipe surfaces.
2.3.2 Pipe ends must be cut square. All internal and external weld bead, flash or seams
must be ground flush at least 2 inches back from pipe end.
2.3.3 Measure length of the pipe that is required, cut the pipe using cutting machine in
square.
2.3.4 Pipe is properly supported with a pipe stand and should be located ¾ of pipe
length from die head.
2.3.5 Ensure that the foot switch operates freely and position it so that all controls can be
easily reached.
2.3.6 Close chuck by turning hand wheel in a counter clockwise direction. Check that the
pipe is centered and tighten jaws with a repeated spin of the hand wheel.
2.3.7 Set the cutter wheel at the point to be cut and feed the wheel into the pipe by
rotating the handle clockwise whilst rotating the pipe.
2.3.8 Ream the pipe by applying pressure to the hand wheel.

2.3.9 Install correct dies. Set die head and with pipe rotating, feed carriage to bring dies
into contact with the pipe. Continue to apply pressure to the hand wheel until the
dies are engaged.
2.3.10 Thread cutting fluid is used to obtain best threads and will help to give maximum
die life.
2.4 Work Procedure (Sprinkler system, Hose reel piping and Landing valve
piping)
2.4.1 Support
2.4.1.1 Mark the piping route as per the drawings and mark the location supports.
2.4.1.2 The maximum distance between hanger supports are as follows
• Pipe Ø 25 & 32 - 3 M Span
• Pipe Ø 40, 50, 65, 80, & 100 - 4 M Span
• Pipe Ø 150 & 200- 3 M Span
2.4.1.3 The distance from center line of upright sprinkle to hanger support shall not be less
than 76 mm.
2.4.1.4 Drill the holes in slab, beams as per the requirements and approved drawing
details for fixing supports.
2.4.1.5 Fix the anchors and threaded rods with pipe hangers / structural supports as
applicable. Threaded rod length shall be sufficient to allow for leveling of piping.
2.4.1.6 Seismic supports shall be installed as per the calculation and drawings.
2.4.2 Connection of Grooved Pipes & Fittings (Sprinkler system, Hose reel &
Landing Valve)
2.4.2.1 A thin film of lubricant is applied to the Neoprene rings of the grooved fittings & the
grooved pipe is inserted into the fitting.
2.4.2.2 The bolts on the fitting are then tightened to firmly joint the pipe.
2.4.2.3 Check the pipe for proper alignment & re-level if required.
2.4.2.4 After completion of installation, remove any dirt and construction debris and Install
temporary caps to any open ends.
