I am a didactic instructor in a doctoral level nurse anesthesia program. I instruct
students of all year groups the art and science of nurse anesthesia in theoretical
aspects of anesthesia practice for them to transfer to hands on practice. I
prepare learning material, assist in curriculum development, provide hands on
instruction in a laboratory setting, and evaluate student learning outcomes. In
addition to evaluating students I counsel students and formulate learning
strategies for them. I also provide professional mentorship and role modeling
for these learning future nurse anesthetists. While carrying out my duties during
the course of instruction, I formulate and implement teaching strategies to best
achieve program objectives based upon the guidelines of the Council on
Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs.

Director and Consultant, Operational Medicine, VIGILINT, Morrisville,

I am the incoming director of operational medicine for a company that delivers
a diverse package of healthcare products to the US government, companies,
and individuals. Using my years if experience in providing healthcare in
resource constrained and austere locations I consult on matters involving
healthcare delivery in these challenging places. I have recruited, evaluated, and
hired numerous healthcare providers for overseas healthcare delivery projects.
Additionally, I am a primary educator for anesthesia and resuscitate services in
education products we provide to our clients. I further assist in research and
development of incoming and usable healthcare products and solutions to be
used by our providers. I consult on supply line management items and am a
member of the pharmacy and therapeutics committee. I will be managing
approximately 150 healthcare providers made up of multiple subspecialties.

Staff Nurse Anesthetist, Moore Regional Hospital (prn), Pinehurst, NC

November 2010-present
I perform staff duties providing around the clock anesthesia services in a busy
regional hospital. When assigned, I serve as service coordinator making
assignments and directing the activities of up to 16 anesthetists to ensure
continuity of care in a multispecialty surgical setting. I was the on site clinical
faculty for the Duke University Nurse Anesthesia Program for 3 years, in
which I instructed, monitored, and evaluated students rotating through our
facility. I was chosen Preceptor of the Year by the Class of 2017. I am our staff
life support coordinator and educate over 20 Nurse Anesthetists and 10
Anesthesiologists for mandatory life support certifications.

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE

Staff Nurse Anesthetist, UNC Healthcare, Chapel Hill, NC September 2012 -

March 2013
I performed as staff nurse anesthetist in the Main Hospital GI procedures lab
during UNC Healthcare’s transition to primarily using propofol and anesthesia
for endoscopic procedures. I sat on the transition committee to safely increase
efficiency and thru-put in the new system. The resulting increase in
productivity in this highly visible endeavor resulted in praise for the entire staff
and significant revenue increases for the hospital.

Assistant Chief Nurse Anesthetist/Staff Nurse Anesthetist/ Senior Clinical

Instructor. RANK: Lieutenant Colonel. Womack Army Medical Center, Fort
Bragg, North Carolina, June 2007-November 2010
As interim chief and assistant chief nurse anesthetist I was responsible for
supervising, coordinating, and managing the daily activities of the anesthesia
nursing section in the busiest operating room in the Department of the Army,
performing over 950 surgical procedures per month. I coordinated all
education activities for a staff of over 40 professional anesthesia providers
including physicians. I maintained a cost saving educational program for nurse
anesthetists for their recertification, which saved the hospital significant
education funds. I coordinated all hands-on anesthesia training for special
operations personnel in the operating room and was primary anesthesia
consultant at the Joint Special Operations Medical Training Center. I was rating
officer for 10 junior officers and Senior Rater for 4 officers, 2 enlisted
personnel, and 2 civilians. As Senior Clinical Instructor, I directed, mentored,
and evaluated Nurse Anesthesia students and Oral Surgery residents during
their graduate medical education. The Nurse Anesthesia program in the Army
for which I have been faculty for 13 years is one of the top ranked programs in
the country. Under my guidance at Womack Army Medical Center, 15 Nurse
Anesthesia providers completed the program with a perfect board pass rate. I
served as faculty in 2 previous assignments assisting in preparing at least 50
other officers in the completion of this program.

Special Operations Nurse Anesthetist, Joint Special Operations Command:

Major – Lieutenant Colonel. Fort Bragg, North Carolina, August 2001-
November 2010
I served in the Joint Special Operations Command providing medical support to
elite Special Mission Units engaged in counter-terrorist operations as part of a
special operations medical unit. A primary mission was to conduct research and
development of battlefield medical equipment, treatments, and medical
protocols for the Department of Defense. I deployed 4 times to Iraq, 5 times to
Afghanistan, and several times to other countries in support of special
operations task forces. Spending over 1500 days in war zones, I provided life
saving anesthesia and resuscitation often at or near the point of injury and
worked on multiple casualty evacuation platforms. I eventually became the
unit’s senior officer for my subspecialty. I identified new personnel,
interviewed, and helped to select them for this highly specialized and elite
organization. I was responsible for training plans to ensure my personnel were
combat ready in the most unforgiving and chaotic of environments. I served on
small teams of special operations medical providers in austere and combat
conditions supporting special mission units. I also served as the combat
anesthesia expert consultant while deployed. I was heavily involved in the
development and implementation of a tactical combat casualty care training
program for special operations first responders that contributed to the highest
combat casualty survival rate in history. I authored several command wide
policies governing anesthesia care.

Chief Nurse Anesthetist and Assistant Chief Nurse Anesthetist, RANK:

Major Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon, Georgia
June 2004 -June 2007
I served as nurse anesthetist, assistant chief, and chief during this 3-year
assignment and additionally deployed to war for over 15 months. While chief, I
coordinated staff efforts to ensure compliance during the biannual JCAHO
inspection, which earned departmental commendation. I served as the hospital
coordinator for moderate sedation. I provided guidance and oversight for this
highly visible activity for the entire facility that involved 8 different clinics. As
chief I was responsible and rated up to 10 military anesthetists, 3 civilian
anesthetists, and 2 anesthesia technicians. As faculty, I supervised multiple
students performing their anesthesia training to include Nurse Anesthesia
students, Oral Surgery, and Periodontal residents. Additionally, I served as an
out of town medical augmentee to US Special Operations Command as a
Special Operations Nurse Anesthetist.

Chief Nurse Anesthetist and Executive Officer, 126th Forward Surgical

Team, RANK: Captain. Fort Hood, Texas, May 2001-July 2002
I was responsible for staffing, equipping, making and maintaining combat
ready a mobile forward surgical team that supported the 3rd
Armored Corps, the largest Corps of soldiers in the US Army. I supervised the
operating room section that included nurses and technicians, and in the
commander’s absence assumed his duties and responsibilities for this 20-person
unit. While deployed with this unit I was the sole anesthesia provider for
14,000 American troops in Kuwait.

Staff Nurse Anesthetist, Darnall Army Community Hospital, RANK:

Captain, Fort Hood, Texas, January 2001-May 2004
Served as staff nurse anesthetist at the largest Army Medical Activity and
busiest obstetrics department in Department of Defense providing round the
clock anesthesia care in a multispecialty surgical setting. I coordinated daily
activities of the operating room when assigned supervising the activities of 8
operating rooms. I served as an out of town medical augmentee to US Special
Operations Command as a Special Operations Nurse Anesthetist. I was
designated the officer in charge of CEEP and MEDCASE. During this time, I
researched, tested, and made acquisition of equipment assets totaling over 4
million dollars to ensure mission accomplishment.

I serve as director of operational medicine for a company that provides
overseas medical support to commercial and government clients in often
austere and resource constrained environments. I assist in strategic planning for
current and future company missions and endeavors. I am a primary consultant
within the company to ensure proper equipping, training, and staffing are done
to exceed industry standards for healthcare delivery in challenging overseas
locations. I am intimately involved in identifying and selecting talented medical
providers for demanding medical support missions based on my decades of
experience in a similar capacity serving in a DOD Special Mission Unit.

Gryphon Group Security Solutions, Instructor, Operational Medicine

I instruct tactical combat casualty care, prolonged field care, and long-range
evacuation subjects to US government and military personnel at a state of the
art training facility located near Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. I assist in designing
and implementing training programs that are focused on the "human factors" of
a Warfighter's performance in combat. The methodology combines Dynamic
Immersion, Adaptive Recall, & Behavior Focused Feedback to create
extremely effective training programs. I design and implement training that is
documented as helping American Warfighters make better decisions under-fire.

President, SONAS, Inc., Pinehurst, NC January 2012-2017

I am owner and president of a service connected disabled veteran anesthesia
and tactical healthcare education company. I can perform contract anesthesia
and sedation services in office based and hospital facilities. I provide safe and
independent anesthesia care and consultation to physicians of various
subspecialties. I instruct and teach advanced cardiac life support, pediatric
advanced life support, and basic life support. I provide consultation for medical
operations and safe casualty evacuation and movement. I am an expert in
Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), and instruct various tactical medical
care under fire subjects, prolonged field care, and long-range evacuation. I
provide consultation services for technology companies that are engaged in
assisting the US government develop training programs that are consistent with
