Implementation phases (ASAP Methodology)

It’s an Implementation methodology which is divided in to five phases.


It’s called ASAP Methodology or ASAP Roadmaps Methodology.

Phase 1: Project Preparation


During this phase the team goes through initial planning and preparation for SAP project.
 Project planning – Project goals and object, project charter
 Team size & team members
 Kick off meeting – The purpose of this meeting is to create a clear and shared understanding of
the project and project expectations. The main agendas of this meeting are:
 Project Objective & Scope
 Project Timeline
 Project Team Roles & Responsibilities

Phase 2: Business Blueprint


Blueprint is a document prepared based on the requirement gathered from clients. In this phase
consultant will have a discussion with their respective core team member regarding business
process and will record the entire requirement in a document which is called blueprint.
The major activities of this phase are preparation of:
 Business process catalogue document (list of business process)
 Business Blue Print document
 GAP or GAP Analysis: Process difference b/w legacy system and SAP system
Note – Core team members are the module/process lead from client side.

Phase 3: Realization
Purpose of this phase is to implement all the business requirements based on the Business
Blueprint.
 Configuration
 Unit test

Phase 4: Final Preparation


The purpose of this phase is to complete the final preparation (including testing, end user training,
system management and cutover activities) to finalize your readiness to go live.
Major activities in this phase are:
 Integration test - It’s a cross module test
 User acceptance test - Test made by end users from client side
 Cutover activity - Its upload activity or data migration activity where all transaction data and
master data’s are migrated from legacy system to SAP system.
(Note – Legacy system is old system used by organization before SAP implementation)
 End user training
 Preparation of training manuals

Phase 5: Go Live & Support


The purpose of this phase is to move from a project-oriented, pre-production environment to live
production operation. In this phase system is ready for use by end users.
