Introduction
Occupational hazard and risk assessment is an important part in workplace. However, accidents and
hazards to health represent costly factors in the work environment and must be prevented
consistently. Identification of hazards and determination of potential risks in workplace is one of
method for management to prevent their workers from danger situation and in some time to reduce
possibility of accidents and illness in the workplace.

In a year estimated more than five million workers die related to accidents and disease through
work. This figure does not account for injuries which are chronic and acute in nature.

This number of occupational accident and disease could have been prevented if organizations use the
best accident and disease prevention strategies and practices. Occupational Hazards & Risk
Assessment or HIRARC is one of the best methods for management or safety practitioner can have
at his command.

Purpose of Course
The purpose of this course is to help the participant become better able to understand the
occupational hazard such as identify the hazard and determine the potential risks. So in this course,
the participants will learn and do some exercise how to carry out hazard identification, risks
assessment and risks control (HIRARC) at workplace. And at the end of this course, the participants
will confidence to assess the risks, preparing and submitting the report and come out with control
measure in workplace.
Trainer Profile
Joel Su is a safety, health and environment management practitioner with 15 years of experience in
manufacturing, quarry and construction industries. He works as a Quality, Safety, Health & Environment
(QSHE) Officer In-Charge in current company. And he graduated in Occupational Safety & Health
Management.

He has great success record in quality management system (QMS) and product certification (SIRIM) for the
past 20 years. He also has been appointed as an Internal Auditor Coordinator for past 9 years in current
company. He also registered as a Train-The-Trainer with Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF).

Now, he involved in consultancy and training with various corporate, organization and government sector in
safety, health and environment, safety equipment and medical device (GDPMD).
