Description
The All Wales Faculty for Dental Care Professionals (AWFDCP – ‘The Faculty’) is a policy driven
initiative, funded by the Welsh Government. The Faculty seeks to provide a platform to enrich the
training environment and the capability, well-being and engagement of the Dental Care Professional
(DCP) workforce across Wales.
The Faculty is hosted by the School of Health Sciences at Bangor University. This unique position
allows the Faculty to draw upon the broad educational offer that the School provides, improving the
holistic nature of our training opportunities. As a result, we can draw on the rich heritage that the
School has in training nurses and other allied health professionals. This will increase the flexibility
and inter-professional opportunities of DCP training.
The Faculty is currently developing a suite of educational programmes for DCP’s. These range full,
university validated, qualifications to web-based short courses aimed at DCP’s and other allied
health professionals. These short-courses with take the format of a Massive Open Online Course
(MOOC), essentially this allows the courses to be infinitely scalable through delivery using digital
platforms.
Intern Role
To develop a MOOC media framework suitable for current and future Faculty programmes.
Pre-production, recording and post-production of podcast format interviews and visual
media from course leaders and subject specialists.
Liaising with stakeholders and contributors.
Contributing to ideas, specifically with respect to application of media skills/techniques.
The diverse nature of the project means that the intern will not be expected to work exclusively in a
fixed location for the entirety of the internship. The intern will be expected to use the equipment
and facilities made available to undergraduate and post-graduate media students as and when
appropriate. The intern will also be provided with dedicated office space in the NWORTH building,
Normal Site.
