1. It is a part of the normal mandatory process that within the stipulated time-frame (14days) of arrival in India, a student has to
register his/ her name with the police in the designated Foreigner Regional Registration Office (FRRO) i.e. at Mohali. The FRRO
registration is online through (http://indianfrro.gov.in/frro).
2. The timeframe or rules for FRRO registration may vary from 24 hours to 14 days of arrival depending on the country of origin of
the student. A student with a PIO (Person of Indian Origin) card must register at the FRRO. Only OCI (Overseas Citizen of India)

University. The University will not provide assistance in this regard.
4. A fee of US$ 30, paid in INR equivalent, is charged for over-stay and/ or late registration (i.e. after 14 days of arrival date
stamp). The immigration processing fees and other related expenses have to be additionally borne by the student.
5. It is the responsibility of the student to inform the designated FRRO in case he/she is leaving the country.
6. A student is not required to register him/herself on each visit as long as he/she is visiting on the same visa against which he/she
was registered earlier with the FRRO. However, a registered foreigner needs to report to FRRO/FRO if he/she re-enters India on a
fresh visa.
7. Note: It is the student’s responsibility to comply with all the visa/foreigner registration or other formalities as defined by the
government of India from time to time. Thus, a student is advised to visit Ministry of External Affairs website (www.mea.gov.in)
regularly to avoid any legal complication and hassle.
