CHAPTER 2

2.1 NARRATIVE REPORT

WHAT I HAVE LEARNED FROM THE EXPERIENCE?

They say nothing beats experience. My training gives me a taste of

the real world – a glimpse of what lies ahead after my graduate.

One of the most important things I have learned is that “talent is

not enough alone”. It is important, but it is no guarantee of
success. One must also be hardworking and should practice self
discipline. Sacrifice is important too.

I learned through experience how to interact and communicate with

different kind of people. Knowing how to handle and tackle different
issues that need to be addressed was quite memorable.

On the Job Training is one of the best methods because it is planned,

organized and conducted at the employees work site. As a student it
helps me to become a young professional. My training gives me a
chance to apply the theories and computations that i’ve learned from
school.

It as November 17, 2017 when I started my OJT and its been 600 hours
I spend inside the Suzuki Auto Nueva Ecija Service Departmen. I
usually came to office around 7:30 to 7:45 in the morning, i usually
clean the office, organized, sorted their files, and encoding. I
really enjoyed my training i leaned a lot of office works, the
operation and transactions, and standard office rules and procedures
and most of all the pleasant officers-employees relationship. I
really appreciated the effort that they accepted me and considered me

as their co-employee.
One of my hardest experience during my training is when the Service
Manager given me a task to do a flyers. I got rejected for almost
three times it’s the time that I have realized that effort is not
always enough. I learned so much experience for that, it encourage me
to improve my skills and not to quit just keep on moving.

I also learned that, OJT is not just you work for nothing mean we are
thinking that we’re having our training for the sake of our grades,
that’s a big “NO” for me because i trained not for what others think
but i trained to be a successful student in the future.

There are lot of things that i can say I'll never forget, from the
day i walk in to the Service Department to the day I walk out to the
building. I met people who I enjoyed being with through their jokes,
trips and even their smiles.

What i learned in my workplace is being hard working, even though is

it tiring. And keeping a smile on my face.

It be so exciting to face the real world, being independent and

figuring things out on your own. This also means having to deal with
different people more often, so it is really good to know what you’re
doing and love it. I also learned that what I can do as a student is
to learned whatever I can in school, be inspired, love the path I
take and finally do my best in everything I do with a positive
outlook in mind.

All the good experiences, knowledge, and skills i acquired during my

training will be most cherished.

MY EXPERIENCES WITH THE PEOPLE AROUND ME

Entering to an unfamiliar path is always a challenge for every

person. As I step forward to Suzuki Auto Nueva Ecija I took it as one
of the most biggest exams that I have to face in my own journey, who
are the people i have to work with and what is their attitude and
behavior considering that different people have different attitude.

As a Trainee, the staff within the department I have encountered with

as very considerate. They have helped me mold into a person who is
ready to face whatever our course hold us for a professional. Without
a second thoughts, they have imparted all the knowledge and words of
wisdom that builds my confidence in every task I have to perform,
they are willingly offer their help and guidance into finishing the
work without any difficulties.

Being professionals, they have showed such professionalism and

competence. Dealing with other people taught me how an employee
should communicate to the people he/she has to encounter as the days
go on. And with my co-trainees, I have left that I have someone to
lean on throughout the practicum, someone whom I can brainstorm with
the task given to ask.

All these people have been a great help to me to discover the

potentials that I may have, and they are the reason why this
practicum has been an enjoyable and a memorable one.
THE MOST MEMORABLE EVENT DURING MY PRACTICUM

I did not realized how enjoyed I am as a trainee there until I was

saying goodbyes to the people who become my second family. The whole
OJT experience was a great memory to remember.

My most memorable event during my practicum is my last day. I felt

mixed emotions I am partly happy and partly sad. Partly happy because
finally i am done in my training, and partly sad because i am going
to miss our trainers and other employee of the Suzuki Auto Nueva
Ecija.

The Managers Committee is a quite memorable too. It’s the time when i
felt one of the team as I help my trainers to do a Strategic Plan for
2018.

But most of all, those laughter I had with my trainers will always be

cherish in my heart.

WHAT I CAN RECOMMEND TO THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE PRACTICUM PROGRAM?

So far, the practicum program was really organized. This practicum
program was really helpful to all student trainees to empowered or
develop their skills and knowledge. I Don’t really think what to
suggest because the practicum program is well planned.
MY ADVICE TO THOSE WHO WILL TAKE THEIR PRACTICUM IN THE FUTURE

From all the experiences and learning's I have acquired throughout

this journey, to all those who will take their practicum in the near
future, enough confidence, knowledge, skills, and a good attitude are
the keys. This would be the key to accomplish a very meaningful and
successful practicum ahead of them.

Being prepared only leads you to a smoother way in your training and
for every task they give, always do your best, be responsible and be
a hardworking person, aside from the things that your mentor will
teach you always be someone who is curious to his environment, be
observant and never hesitate to ask because asking in learning, and
learning will lead you into a better that a knowledgeable person.
2.2 CASE STUDY

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

➢ UNAVAILABILITY OF POWER GENERATOR

RECOMMENDATION: I consider this one as a major problem of the

company because I believe that power generator is a necessity
for this kind of business because main outlets are computer, and
without power the business process will waste so much time,
power is very important specially in diagnosing the vehicle
health. That’s why I am recommending that they really need to
invest in power generators in order to avoid such situation like
that during brown out.

➢ UNAVAILABILITY OF A SECURITY GUARD

RECOMMENDATION: A security officer plays many different roles,

but his primary task is to prevent crime. The presence of
security guard on the premises often serves as a deterrent to
the potential lawbreakers. Security Guards not only do they
protect the places but they do also protect the people. With
regards to that I suggest that Suzuki Auto Nueva Ecija should
hire a security guard in order to protect and secure the
business.
➢ CONFLICT BETWEEN EMPLOYEE RELATIONSHIP

RECOMMENDATION: As a trainee for 600 hours, I observed

everything inside Suzuki Auto Nueva Ecija, one of the problem
that I notice is the employee relationship, Yes, they work under
the same roof but it seems that they didn’t notice each others
presence. I see that as a conflict inside the company, there are
times that I heard something against to the other employee for
me is not healthy. I suggest to let their employee bond with
each other like for example having a lunch out with all the
employees, at least they make memories instead of thinking
something bad against to someone.

➢ LACK OF PROMOTION/ADVERTISEMENT (SERVICE DEPARTMENT)

RECOMMENDATION: As a Marketing Management student, I know that

having an attractive promotion or advertisement is one of the
best way to persuade the prospects. Promotion or advertisement
is something that is done to make people aware of something and
increase its sales or popularity it is also something that is
shown or presented to the public to help sell a product or to
make an announcement. With regards to that, for me as a Trainee
for 600 hours, I observed that Suzuki Auto Nueva Ecija Service
Department is lack of having a promotion or advertisement to
gain new clients specially the Other Brand Unit Owners. I
suggest for the department to do a service promotions or
advertisement that can persuade new clients and that will
result to the increase of UR (Unit Received) and sales for the
said department.
