Mr. Scot Graden, District Superintendent
Saline Area School
7265 N. Ann Arbor Road
Saline, MI 48176
Dear Mr. Graden and hiring committee:
It is with great interest and excitement that I am applying for the position of Assistant
Principal at Heritage School. I believe with my education and certification, paired with
my previous teaching and leadership experience, I would be a highly qualified
candidate.
In 2012, I obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in
Special Education and I am currently working to complete my Master’s Degree in
Educational Leadership. After receiving my teaching certificate, I gained experience
teaching in various grade levels, including kindergarten, third and fifth grade. This
prepared me for the this position as it has provided insight to many levels of
education and development. In addition to teaching in the classroom, I held positions
of influence within the school. For instance, while at Heritage, I was a member of the
MTSS pilot. This experience allowed me to work with other teachers and students to
make data-based decisions, plan, and instruct reading interventions to meet an array
of student needs outside of students on my class roster.
Outside of the classroom, I have demonstrated leadership capabilities in a number of
ways, most recently by leading the Heritage School Improvement team. In this role, I
was tasked with evaluating the professional needs of teachers and then cultivating an
atmosphere where teachers could grow in their skill set. This allowed me to branch
outside of my classroom and teaching style to meet the needs of other professionals
within the building.
With experience in new programming initiatives, optimizing the learning atmosphere,
staff development, and promoting a safe environment, I have a proven record that will
allow for success in this new role. I am enthusiastic and prepared to offer my expertise
in elementary and special education to maximize the critical thinking, creativity,
collaboration, and communication for students, staff, and parents of Heritage School.
Thank you for your consideration,
Jesse Spicer
