WHEREAS, Barangay Poblacion, Marihatag, Surigao del Sur has sixteen (16) Puroks organized by
their respective residents in accordance with tradition, practice and religious beliefs, as
follows: Miramar 1, Miramar 1A, Miramar 2, Sampaguita, Commercial, Katipunan,
Makiangayon, Alegria, Kauswagan 1, Kauswagan 2, Langoyon, Ipil-Ipil, Pagbahanan 1,
Pagbahanan 2, Pagbahanan 3, and Hospital. Narciso E. Umapas
WHEREFORE, the Purok Organization of Barangay Poblacion, Marihatag, Surigao del Sur needs
to be formalized and recognized by the Barangay Officials:
NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of SB Kagawad Erofe B. Orbeta, and seconded by all Kagawads

SECTION 4. Purok Officers, Purok Council and Manner of Election. – Each Purok shall have a
group of officers, to be known as Purok Council, composed of the following:
a. President b. Vice-president
c. Secretary d. Treasurer
e. Auditor
The Purok members may elect other officers as they may deem necessary but
only the foregoing officers may be called for a meeting with the barangay officials.
The Purok officers shall be elected during the month of December and they shall
serve from January 1 to December 31 of the ensuing year, unless removed or replaced.
They may be elected many times as the Purok members decide.

SECTION 7. Purok Incentives. – Purok officials acting as peace officers of their respective
puroks are entitled to an incentive or honorarium of not less than Five Hundred
(P500.00) Pesos monthly. The Sangguniang Barangay may increase the incentives as the
need arises and when funds so warrant.
SECTION 9. Incentives to BHW and CVO or Tanod Assigned to a Purok. – Every purok
organization shall have its own BHW and CVO to assist the purok officials in the delivery
of health services and maintain peace and order. All BHWs shall be entitled to an annual
incentive of not less than THREE THOUSAND Pesos (P 3,000.00). The Sangguniang
Barangay may increase the BHW incentives as the need arises and when funds so
warrant. All CVO members is likewise entitled to an incentives.
SECTION 10. Rules on Transfer of Purok Membership. – Purok membership and transferees
shall be governed as follows:
10.2. A resident who are not actually living under the jurisdiction of the
Purok shall be allowed to be a member of any Purok provided that he/she has acquired
a property in that particular Purok; Provided, finally, that once a member has sold
her/his property of that particular Purok, her/his membership shall automatically
transfer to his/her actual residency; and
SECTION 11. Imposition of Purok Fees. – The Purok Council may impose fees in connection
with the issuance of Purok clearance or certification, or membership dues provided it
must be approved by the Purok Assembly and confirmed by the Sangguniang Barangay.
SECTION 12. Purok Assembly. – Each Purok shall hold a Purok Assembly once every THREE (3)
months of the year, or FOUR (4) times a year. Purok officials are required to render
reports pertaining to the operations and financing of the Purok.
SECTION 13. Barangay Assembly Day. – Purok officials and residents are required to attend the
Barangay Assembly called by the Sangguniang Barangay with the concomitant obligation
to pay a FINE of ONE HUNDRED Pesos (P 100.00) in case of unjustified failure to attend.
SECTION 15. Applicability Clause. – All other matters relating to the impositions in this Code
shall be governed by pertinent provisions of existing laws and other ordinances.
SECTION 16. Repealing Clause. – All Ordinances, executive orders, rules and regulations or
parts thereof, which are inconsistent with this Ordinance, are hereby repealed or
modified accordingly.
SECTION 17. Effectivity and Transitory Clauses. – The effectivity of this Ordinance shall start on
November 1, 2017, subject, however, to the review and concurrence of the
Sangguniang Bayan, and copies hereof are posted in a bulletin board at the entrance of
the Barangay Hall and the Public Terminal. The first election of Purok officials under this
Ordinance shall be during the month of December, 2017.
ENACTED UNANIMOUSLY this 9th day of October, 2017 at the Barangay Hall, Barangay
Poblacion Municipality of Marihatag, Province of Surigao del Sur.
