M100 handheld-OTDR
The new M100 OTDR is the word’s first handheld, single-mode and multimode, four-
wavelength Optical Time Domain Reflectometer with integrated VFL (visual fault locator).
Using “PDA” technology the M100 reaches a new level of value and portability. By
combining a simple user interface with the features of a mini-OTDR in a “micro” package,
the M100 is ideal for premises network Tier 2 fiber link certification and fault-location
measurements including: connection loss and reflectance, splice loss, and fiber loss slope
(attenuation rate). The M100 is also suited for broadband service providers looking for a
highly portable OTDR to document and trouble-shoot fiber links in their access and FTTx
(fiber to the home/curb/office) networks. Both the multimode and single-mode OTDR
ports are equipped with tool-free, switchable adapter mounts. ST, SC, and FC adapters
are provided. The VFL port is equipped with a universal adapter that accepts any standard
2.5 mm connector.

OPM 4
adds set reference feature to measure loss in
dB directly
Simple to use, an OPM 4 stores reference settings for each
calibration wavelength. An easy to read LCD display shows optical
power (dBm or µW) or insertion loss (dB) and the calibration
wavelength (nm).
OPM 5
adds data storage feature
The OPM 5 series offers more features than any comparably
priced optical power meter available today. The non-volatile
memory of the OPM 5 stores 500 loss readings per wavelength
for future downloading to a printer or computer. A serial cable to
transfer results to your PC and Windows® compatible software
to view, print, and archive test results are provided with all OPM 5
models.

Light Sources
OLS 1
LED light source
The OLS 1 series of LED light sources are inexpensive, practical
instruments designed for performing insertion loss measurements
on fiber optic links when used with an optical power meter. The
OLS 1 is easy to operate with only a power/wavelength select
switch. The LED outputs are stabilized to ensure accurate test
results.
OLS 2
laser light source
The OLS 2 Laser source series offers excellent stability and
portability for accurate fiber optic testing. Five versions of the
OLS 2 are offered for measurements at 1310 nm, 1550 nm, 1625
nm, and dual wavelength (1310/1550 nm) and (1550/1625 nm).
These compact units operate in either continuous wave (CW) mode
or 2 kHz modulated mode.

Light Sources
OLS 4
integrated laser and LED light source
The OLS 4 is an integrated, two-port LED and Laser light source.
The LED output may be operated at 850 or 1300 nm while its
Laser output can operate at 1310 or 1550 nm. Thus the OLS 4,
with any optical power meter, can be used to certify attenuation
on multimode or single-mode optical fiber links respectively per
current TIA/EIA requirements. Both the multimode and single-mode
output ports are equipped with removable adapters to allow output
connectors to be inspected and cleaned. Controls are provided to
allow the user to easily adjust output level at each wavelength. The
OLS 4 may be ordered with SC, FC, or ST output ports.

Used during installations or maintenance, the MLP 4-2 performs insertion loss
measurements on multimode fiber at 850 and 1300nm, as well as single-mode fiber at
1300nm. The auto zero feature stores reference values at each wavelength for direct loss
readings in dB.
The OPM 5-2C stores 500 loss readings for each wavelength for future down-loading
to a computer, or printer. In addition, the OPM 5-2C will remeasure any specific memory
location without erasing, or modifying other loss readings.

OFS 300
optical microscope for fiber optic connectors on patch cords
The OFS 300 optical microscope is designed to inspect connectors on fiber optic cables,
patch cords, or test jumpers. Two versions of the OFS 300 offer different magnification
power. The OFS 300-200C, with 200X magnification, is our most popular fiber scope
for inspection of multimode or single-mode fibers. The OFS 300-400C, with 400X
magnification, is ideal for critical inspection especially of single-mode fibers. Both
models offer 60 hours of continuous battery life. A low battery indicator will flash when
approximately 8 hours of optimum brightness remains, reducing the risk of eyestrain.
VS 300
view safe video microscope for fiber optic connectors on
patch cords
The VS 300 view safe video microscope removes concerns for eye safety while inspecting
optical fiber connectors. The design eliminates the optical path to the eye by utilizing a
miniature camera and a state-of-the-art micro-display that achieves unparalleled clarity and
resolution.
The VS300 is modeled after the functionality of our highly successful OFS300 product line
with the following improvements:
• The VS300 has no optical path to the user’s eye.
• The VS300 has NTSC video output.
• The VS300 has the familiar shape and control positions of the OFS 300 but is half the
weight and has a molded easy grip case with easy access battery compartment.
The VS 300 Video Fiber Scope uses all the OFS 300 -200C adapter caps and has an
energy saving automatic shutoff.

FTS 2 8500-10-0900 FTS-20C Clip-on Coupler •
A clip-on coupler is available for bare fiber access where terminated ends are not
available. The FTS-20C allows bi-directional communication from a center point on the
fiber link or from an unterminated end. When used with a fiber talk set – such as the FTS2
– a user can access the intended talk fiber at a mid-point across the span, usually at the
splice enclosure. The FTS-20C can also be used in conjunction with a Laser Source and
FTS 20C
Tone Detector to inject or detect 2 kHz test tones. It works at 1310, 1550, or 1625 nm.
Coupling efficiency is approximately 18 dB.

Fiber Identifier
OFI 200 optical fiber identifier
The OFI 200 Optical Fiber Identifier is a low cost, hand-held instrument designed to detect
optical signals without disrupting traffic. During maintenance, installations, rerouting or
restorations, it’s often necessary to isolate a specific fiber. By simply clamping the OFI 200
onto a fiber, the unit will indicate if there is no signal, a 2 kHz tone, or traffic and show
signal direction.
