INTRODUCTION TO CINEMA
Introduction to Cinema is designed to give students critical insight into the "language" of
motion pictures, film theory, history of cinema, and appreciation of the common elements
of commercial and artistic films.
WOMEN IN FILM
The significant participation of women in front of and behind the camera will be studied
in this course. Attention will also be given to screen images of women and how they
reflect the American culture.
BROADCAST JOURNALISM I, II
This class is an introduction to broadcast news writing, videography, editing and visual

ANIMATION TECHNIQUES
This course is designed to introduce students to basic methods and practices in
animation, while exposing them to artists working independently in this field. Dual

others but stands firm in her knowledge of who she is, therefore, will not compromise her
principle.’ One woman’s experiences of motherhood and daughterhood with a superhero twist.

2000 HERO CONSTRUCT-Performance Studies International Conference (PSI), Arizona State University,
Through the physical action of a woman’s lone marathon run, an image is constructed, pixel by
pixel as her physiological data is transmitted step by step, breath by breath to a computer, giving
rise to the construction of a ‘heroic’ image. Writer- performer

Red swimmer free styling through projected pools takes a breather to tell stories of perfect

Commission for the Arts. Introduced video as a viable art form, showed many examples and
designed a short video art project for the students. Lectured on the history of video art.
2001 CELEBRATE ARTS/ARTIST MONTH- Family School, Phoenix, Arizona. Lectured on being a video
artist and showed most recent video work.
2000 YMCA- YARTS SUMMER TEEN CAMP- Taught basic video camera skills and the principles of the
in-camera edit resulting in 20 groups of students having a complete video piece.

2013-CURRENT GIRLS HAVE IT CAMP!
Girls Have IT Camp! is a week-long event for middle school girls to become engaged in
hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) activities. This event
draws middle school girls from all over the valley.
2008-2017 GIRLS HAVE IT DAY!
Created in 2008, Girls Have IT Day! is an event for middle school girls to become
engaged in hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) activities
Co-hosted by Xavier College Preparatory and Arizona State University. This event draws
over 1000 middle school girls from all over the valley.
