THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING

I. Introduction

Nowadays, the number of mobile phone users in the world is expected to pass the five

billion mark by 2019. In 2016, an estimated 62.9 percent of the population worldwide already

owned a mobile phone. Mobile first development, before the widespread adoption of mobile

devices, software was first developed to run on desktop and laptop, with a mobile version

coming after. Tablet and smartphone usage is outstripping that desktop computers and laptops,

reflected in app sales trends. In fact, 258.2 billion apps were forecast to be downloaded in 2022.

As a result, many developers have turned to a "mobile-first" approach, mirroring a similar trend

in web design. For these apps, their mobile versions are the defaults, with the desktop versions

being adapted for their larger screens and more expansive specifications. It can be said that

almost everyone has a mobile phone that can be used to transmit information to one another. And

did you know that this technology is an integral part of the every human in their everyday life. A

while ago information has been a vital commodity for the successful operation of today's

organizations. Even modern business organizations are using computerized information system

in order to obtain such information.

What is a mobile application? A mobile application is a type of application software

designed to run a mobile device, such as a smartphone or tablet computer. Mobile applications

are the current money spinning idea in the field of technology. It is system software that runs on

android and smartphones. Many researchers use app developing technologies to introduce many
kind of businesses. This applications frequently serve to provide users with similar services to

those accessed on PCs. It’s generally small but individual software units have limited function.

The used of this application software was originally popularized by Apple Inc. and its App Store,

which offers thousands of applications for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. .This software built

by the mobile development software for accessing handheld devices like laptop, mobile phones

and enterprise digital assistance etc. This is one of the most important reasons why

you should consider creating a mobile app for your business. Enhancing the accessibility of your

products and services is a great way to organically increase customer loyalty and improve your

offering. Mobile apps offer a great way to reward and add value to your customers.

And with this mobile application, the Rose of Sharon Learning Center can feature their

school without the needs of fliers or posters, just simply used this application and they can

advertised their school. The features about their school was putted into the system that it can be

changed or edited according to schools information. This system also can help not wasting their

time going outside to deal on customers or parents. And the good for this is not wasting more

money to make a flyers, posters etc. but can make more students on their school. Mobile apps are

very beneficial for schools (teachers, schools and parents). The concept holds in to provide better

management, task, learning, activities, etc. Nowadays, school app plays a significant role in

increasing engagement between parents and teachers. Despite of their busy schedule, parents can

communicate with teachers or management from anywhere. Moreover, it helps in supporting and

improving the overall performance of the students.

This application can be beneficial to 75 parents to the school, which had been stablished

since May 1, 1980. After it had been open it only accommodate kinder 1, but now at a present
time, it is an Elementary school that has kinder 1 to grade 6. Located at 034 Leuterio St. San

Vicente Central, Calapan City.

II. Background of the Study

The mobile phone industry has been developing and growing rapidly during the last

couple of years. Old mobile devices with limited capabilities are being replaced by new and

advanced mobile technology supporting a wide range of mobile services. A mobile application

(mobile app) is a software application designed to run on smartphones, tablet computers, and

mobile devices. “Mobile app” has become a very familiar term in the world today. The

popularity of mobile applications has continued to rise, as their usage has become increasingly

prevalent across mobile phone users. Public demand of mobile apps and the availability of

sophisticated developer tools, libraries, and frameworks have made mobile app development

easy, fast and productive. Mobile apps can facilitate users with a wide range of services besides

normal phone functionality such as GPS, mobile games, banking, online ticketing and many

more.

As a programmer I usually look for the things that are missing to make it unique, such as

a school that has no information on mobile phones. And the growing advancement of phone has

a large impact on the society, not only that are mobile phones handy but also it is very easy to

use. That is why I came up in a idea that is unique but also very helpful. A mobile application

that contains the information of the school, also the teachers, owner, their different type’s

activity, schedule, and also their VMG.

III. Statement of the problem

This study seeks to answer the following problems:

1. How effective is the use of mobile application?

2. How manageable is the updating of information about the Rose of Sharon Learning

Center using the mobile application?

3. What are the advantages of using mobile application?

V. Theoretical Framework

Abdellah defined theory as “an explanation of a phenomenon or an abstract

generalization that systematically explains the relationship among given phenomena, for purpose

of explaining, predicting and controlling such phenomena”. The theoretical framework consist of

theories that seem to be interrelated.

The theoretical framework that will be used in the study is the Input-Process-Output

Model. In the IPO model, a process is viewed as a series of boxes (processing elements)

connected by inputs and outputs. Information or material objects flow through a series of task or

activities based on a set of rules or description points. Flow charts and process diagrams are

often used to represent the process. What goes in the input; what causes the change is the

process; what comes out is the output. The IPO model will provide the general structure and

guide for the direction of study.

The Input-Process-Output Model also known as the IPO+S Model is a functional model

and conceptual schema of a general system. And IPO chart identifies a program's inputs, its

output, and the processing steps required to transform the inputs into the outputs.
 The IPO model has many interdisciplinary applications, and is used to convey system

fundamentals in IT overview education and as a brainstorming, preliminary investigation tool in

systems development processes. It consists of at least three, and sometimes four, distinct

components. In contemporary Information Technology, it is almost always discussed as a three

model in which the fourth is a named optional.

The components of the IPO model are defined as:

 Input - The information, ideas, and resources used.

 Processing - Actions taken upon/using input or stored material.

 Output - Results of the processing that then exit the system.

 Storage - refers to secondary storage.

 VI. Conceptual Framework
The researcher designed Information System (mobile base). Using Adobe Animation. The

study is fitted to what the school needs. It aims to help the advertising of the school. The table

below will be the flow of the system.

VII. Operational Framework

This is a framework transaction wherein the school's feature is use to the mobile

application in its operation. The interested parents may view the different amnesties and services

that the school has to offer; the classroom, playground, teacher, and everything that will guaranty

the safety of their children and why that school is the best for their child.

The user will go to the menu and the menu will show all the options about the school.

After choosing the right option, the application will display all the information in that option.

VIII. Scope and Limitation of the Study

This focuses on the features of the Rose of Sharon Learning Center only. This is designed

to cater the advertisement and promotion of the school. This system will not require internet to

operate. This application may be change and updated by the administrator.

IX. Significance of the Study

This search will be beneficial to the following:
Rose of Sharon Learning Center - the study will benefit this school since it will lessen the

workload of the administrator or anyone who would like to promote the school. With this

system, advertising the school will be very easy.

Researcher - This study honed the researcher's programming skills and made him appreciate

more importance of information system.

To the Future Researchers – This study will help the future researchers to have an initial idea

on what topic to choose and a guide if they have the same topic as this research and contribute

knowledge on how to make a mobile application. The researchers project serves as a basis of the

study. It will help to improve the knowledge in new technology and also encourages every

individual to make mobile application.

X. Definition of Terms

For better understanding of the study, the following terms are defined operationally.

Android - Andy Rubin (2008) An operating system, usually installed as the main program of

any mobile device, smartphone and tablets. It comes with a different version such as, Froyo,

Ginger Bread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), Jelly Bean, Kit Kat, Lollipop and the

latest version Marshmallow.

Adobe Animate - Jonathan Gray (1996) (Formerly Adobe Flash Professional, Macromedia

Flash, and Future Splash Animator) A multimedia authoring and computer animation program

developed by adobe system.

APK (Android application package) - Andy Rubin (2008) A type of archive file, specifically

in zip format packages based on the JAR file format, with .apk as the filename extension.

SDK (Software Development Kit) - Andy Rubin (2008) Typically a set of software

development tools that allows the creation of application for a certain software package, software

framework, hardware platform, computer system, video game console, operating system, or

similar development platform.

Mobile-Base Application - Andy Rubin (2008) Define as a software application developed

specially for use on small, wireless computing devices, such as, smartphones and tables.

Related Literature

The aim of this section is to define what mobile application and show the information of

the school. It also enlightens the parents, to know the different aspects of the school such as

VMG, teachers, the facility etc.

Local Literature

According to Ronald A. Mendiola(2012) MyNews Philippines is an application

originally released on March 18, 2012 with the version of android 2.2. MyNews PHILIPPINES

for Android mobile brings you the news updates in the PHILIPPINES. Option to choose your

favorite news articles from ABS-CBN News, GMA News, Inquirer News, Asian Correspondent

News, Senate of the Philippines News, PhilStar News, SunStar Philippines News and more

additional news source.

The application use android system and applied through the major applications of the

data handling the of television network. The telecommunication will be navigated though the use

of featured android network system. The system will allows to track the data interface of the

system.

Sakay.ph is an entry to the Philippine Transit App Challenge in 2013, where it won the

Open Community Award. Transit directions for Jeepneys, Buses, Trains, and more in Metro

Manila. Like Google Maps or Waze, but for commuting. In February 2015, we relaunched with

new branding, a new interface, and mobile apps. The app and website are very well-received;

we've served over 500,000 users so far, and have been featured in the news several times.
University of the Philippines Nationwide Operational Assessment of Hazards (UP NOAH). The

companion app to ARKO (the mobile app for flood, storm surge, and landslide hazard maps), the

NOAH Android app features a user-friendly interface that allows you to view near real time

weather information, which can help prevent and mitigate disasters.

This mobile app was developed by Rolly Rulete in cooperation with UP NOAH, with the

partnership of Smart Communications, Inc. through the Smart Developer Network (SMART

DevNet). Content and data come from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and

its participating agencies. UP NOAH’s mission is to undertake disaster science research and

development, advance the use of cutting edge technologies and recommend innovative

information services in government's disaster prevention and mitigation efforts. Though the use

of science and technology and in partnership with the academe and other stakeholders, the DOST

through Program NOAH is taking a multi-disciplinary approach in developing systems, tools,

and other technologies that could be operationalized by government to help prevent and mitigate

disasters.

The proponent decide to choose this article because of the concept of the android apps is

to create an analysis and interaction towards the user of the app. The strategic plan of the data

inputs for the interaction of the parent leaves decision to the users on what is the right track and

output to be able to navigate it.

Foreign Literature

Oliver Goldman (2012) states that Only Adobe Air could add core features to the

runtime. Developers requiring new features could only wait. Now developers can extend the

runtime themselves. This new capability allows developers to achieve deeper integration with

target devices, incorporate legacy native code in their application and achieve maximum

performance for critical code. The runtime supports installable applications on Windows, Mac

OS and some mobile operating systems such as BlackBerry Tablet OS, IOS and Android.

The proponent use adobe air to enable users to view the application installed in android

phone. Adobe air applications can provide both online and offline access to content, because it is

a stand-alone application stored on the user's computer. Adobe air has been adapted by the group

to create a well detailed graphics towards the user of the system. The monitoring of the system

concepts and as well as the good navigation of the graphics towards the content of the app both

online and offline access of it.

Albanesius (2013), Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is the latest version of the

Android platform for phones, tablets, and more. It builds on the things people love most about

android easy multitasking, rich notifications, customizable home screens, resizable widgets, and

deep interactivity and adds powerful new ways of communicating and sharing. Focused on

bringing the power of Android to the surface, Android 4.0 makes common actions more visible

and lets you navigate with simple, intuitive gestures. Refined animations and feedback

throughout the system make interactions engaging and interesting. An entirely new typeface

optimized for high-resolution screens improves readability and brings a polished, modern feel to

the user interface. The game application can run in any android smartphones.
 Jonathan Stark (2010) that JavaScript is a scripting language that you can add to an

HTML page to make it more interactive and convenient for the user, For example, you can write

some JavaScript that will inspect the values typed in a form to make sure they are valid. Or, you

can have JavaScript show or hide elements of a page depending on where the user clicks.

JavaScript can even contact the web server to execute database changes without refreshing the

current web page. Like any modern scripting language, JavaScript has variables, arrays, objects,

and all the typical control structures.

The group use JavaScript language for the development of the system as a structure for

system development of the system. The proponent uses the Javascript application to create an

interactive web base instruction of the Pochi game. The use of the Java Script in the proposed

system place an important role in evaluating the system access and data access system.
