For 2Hrs Fire resistance minimum wall thickness is 160mm (*WALLS WITH Pt
in range 0.4% to 1% )for VERTICAL REINF.
The thickness of structural wall shall not be less than 160mm of H/20
whichever is larger
The minumium thickness shear wall shall not be less than 150mm and
300mm for bldg with coupled shear walls in any seismic zone. The
mimumum thickness provided must confirm to the fire resistance
requirements based on occupancy as laid down in IS 456
IN case of walls of
thickness greater than 170 mm but less than or
equal to 220 mm, and also for walls of thickness
greater than 220 mm with more than nominal
reinforcement, provide two layers of reinforcement
in both vertical and horizontal
directions, the former being placed on the inside
of the latter (see Fig. 11.6B). Clips should be
provided to restrain the vertical bars against
buckling, or displacement during concreting. In
walls of thickness greater than 220 mm with
nominal reinforcement, horizontal steel may be
placed inside the vertical steel to reduce the
possibility of the coarse aggregate being ‘hung-up’
on the horizontal bars (see Fig. I 1.6C).

the minimum ratio of vertical reinforcement to
gross concrete area shall be:
1) 0.001 2 for deformed bars not larger than
16mm in diameter and with a characteristic
strength of 415 N/mm2 or greater. The
minimum ratio of horizontal reinforcement
to gross concrete area shalt be:
1) 0.002 0 for deformed bars not larger than
16mm in diameter and with a characteristic
strength of 415 Nzmm' or greater.
Minimum Pt. in SQUAT WALLS (hw/Lw<1) =0.0025 * area of cross section.
