    ANCHOR BOLT DESIGN

    Axial load/ pull up load, T=26 kip


    Yield strength of steel, fy = 50 ksi
    Tensile strength of steel, fu= 58 ksi
    Assume, bolt dia, d= 16mm
    Area, A =0.312 in2

    For pull up
    Tensile strength of steel, Ft= 0.375xFu =21.75 ksi

    For shear
    For pull up
    Tensile strength of steel, Ft= 0.4xFu =23.2 ksi
    Maximum capacity of one bolt, qmax= 21.75 x 0.312 = 6.786 kip
    Require number of bolt, N= 26/6.786 =4 nos
    Allowable bond stress, u=

    Embedded length, Ld = 12.3 in ( Ld = Asfs/U o )


    I)
    ii) 13.13 in ( Ld = 0.04AbFu/ f'c )
    iii) 14.61 in ( Ld = 0.0004dbFu )
    iv) 12 in (Minimum embedded length)

    Provide minimum embedded length= 14.61 inch


    Considering 6 nos 16mm dia anchor bolt is sufficient
    Total length of anchor bolt = 14.61 +4 + (12 x 0.63)
    = 26.17 inch
    = 665 mm
    Considered base plate thickness= 16mm
    (4 mm added
    ADEQUATE
