What is the coverage of the Registered Master

Electrician Exam?
Based on the rules set by PRC’s Board of Electrical Engineering, the Master Electrician
Exam is divided into two categories. The first half of the exam covers the Technical Subject
of a Master Electrician while the second half deals with Parts 1 and 2 of the Philippine
Electrical Code.
Each of these categories covers the following subjects:
Technical Subject
 Control Equipment Description and Functions of Fuses (e.g. circuits breakers, D.C.
motor starters, magnetic switches, overload relays, safety switches, star-delta
motor starters, transformer-type motor starters)
 Electrical Engineering Law Provisions that affect Registered Master Electricians
 Electrical Machines (particularly the descriptions and operations of generators,
motors, and transformers)
 Maintenance and Repair (particularly the description of the procedures in
maintaining electrical machinery)
 Ohm’s Law (e.g. calculations for resistance, current, voltage and power for AC and
DC)
 Test Equipment (e.g. types and uses of instrument measurements)
Philippine Electrical Code, Parts 1 and 2
 Approved Wiring Methods
 Drawing Symbols and Wiring Plans
 General Requirements for Installation of Electric Wiring and Equipment
 Installation of Switchboard and Panel Boards
 Types of Wiring Materials and Wiring Devices
 Wiring Diagrams of Different Types of Motor Starters with Motor Protection
