Colouful Trees by Jonahmar Aguilar Salvosa

I. Elements of Art
This painting used vertical lines for the trunk of the trees to symbolize
the strength that these trees have. Also curved lines were used to paint the
leaves of the trees and even some of the trunks were painted in curves in order
to show the flexibility and motion of the trees. In terms of colors, bright colors
were mostly used and I think it just wanted to make the viewers feel happy and
for the overall atmosphere to be light and fun. It seems to me that that the color
blue was used for the background which is useful for the painter to apply the
idea of contrasting of colors. Obviously, the colors are not based on what real
trees look like. The shapes on this painting are based on natural forms or also
known as organic shape since the shapes used were rounded and irregular. In
terms of value, though bright colors are highlighted here, there are some areas
that are dark and I think its objective is to give an illusion of distance . There
are also some spaces on the painting which also added to the illusion of
distance. The implied texture was made possible by putting very small amount
of some colors and also the curved structure of the leaves and even the
roughness of the trunks of trees.

II. Subject of Art

The subject of art shown in this painting can be classified as
representational because it represents what is in the environment especially
the tress. The subject of this art is also recognizable because the audience
can really easily tell that the painting is all about colorful trees. I can also say
that the subject is realistic since trees are really part of our nature. Though
some of the colors used are not realistic , still the subject which are the trees
do exist in real life.
Pagdiriwang by Jonahmar Aguilar Salvosa

I. Elements of Art
This painting used geometrical shapes such as triangle, rectangle and
circle. It also used irregular shapes. Majority of the lines are curved which really
added to the effect of being in motion of the people in the painting. Most of the
colors used were really bright and I think the colors that really stand-out here
are the primary colors which are the blue and yellow color. There are also some
parts in the painting where colors were combined and also contrasting colors
were used. In terms of saturation of colors, it is really obvious that bright colors
are produced by adding more pigment to the same hue. The sizes of the figures
in the painting really helps to give an illusion of distance because the small
ones at the back served to be the most distant figures in the painting. I think
the orientation or the way each of the figures was placed in the painting, created
the overall feeling for the painting which is to really feel lively and to feel the
enjoyment that someone would feel every time there is a special event like
fiesta. Rhythm can also be observed in this painting, because the viewers can
can really see the repetitions of some colors and the recurrence of some
shapes and forms. The painting also shows the use of good proportion because
the distribution of figures are balanced and placed according to its importance.

II. Subject of Art

The subject of this painting is representational because we can really
see that it is something about a gathering or celebration. It also shows the
culture of the Filipinos in terms of having “pagdiriwang”. It reflects the values
that Filipinos have especially our character of getting along with other people
every time there is something to celebrate for. Most importantly it shows how
colorful and reach the Filipino culture is.
Mag Ina ng Lansangan by Jonahmar Aguilar Salvosa

I. Elements of Art
This art mainly uses the effect of color in order to express the emotion
that the artist wants to convey. Dark colors were used such as black ,dark blue
and also a darker shade of red. The overall appearance of all the colors
created a sad atmosphere for the painting. The painting also shows the
overlapping of colors and mixing of colors at some areas. Lines were also use
particularly the curved lines which is evident on the position of the mother.
Good proportion can also be observed in the painting because the image in the
painting was fairly distributed. Also I can say that there is an informal balance
in which the figures in the painting don’t have to be the same at both sides
because even though the two sides are not symmetrical, the overall balance of
the elements is still achieved.

II. Subject of Art

The subject of this artwork is also representational because it clearly
shows the subject which is the mother and her child. I can really say that the
image created in this painting is based on reality. It also reflects the love that a
mother has for her child. For me it also depicts our culture as Filipinos
especially when we talk about our families. We are known to be family-oriented.
I also think that it shows the problem in our society because we can’t really
deny the fact that we always see this kind of situation in reality.
