The utility CD is used in connection with the VAS 6150 for the installation of the "certificates"
and for "the ELSA recovery and restoration".
A CD reference sheet in printed form is enclosed with the Utility CD.
3. System recovery
3.1 General
The VAS 6150 (Panasonic CF-52) possesses a hard disk recovery system.
The system recovery is made using a partition on the hard disk.
You, therefore, do not require any Recovery CD/DVD as was the case with the previously
known VAS 505x systems.
The provided CDs (Windows XP or Windows Vista) cannot be used in connection with the
VAS 6150!
These CD/DVDs are intended for the standard use of the laptop. For a subsequent use, the VAS 6150 must be
unlocked by the equipment manufacturer.
The hard disk partition "D" remains unaffected during the system recovery, i.e. the data
stored on this partition is preserved.
To start the system recovery, please take the following steps in this chapter.
We recommend that you contact the concerned support for the system
recovery.
Should the recovery system on the hard disk be corrupted and thus no
Tip
system recovery be possible, please contact the concerned support.
During the installation of the Basis CD you will require the device number, the importer
number and the company registration number.
In VAS-PC, the selection is done using the "Administration" button. The numbers are
displayed in the right information window.
Before beginning the system recovery, connect the VAS 6150 to the mains using the
power supply.
The VAS 6150 must not be connected to the docking station (port replicator) during the
system recovery and the subsequent initial startup.
Before you execute a step of the system recovery, go through the instructions
completely and follow them exactly.
During the restart a window appears in which you are requested to set the system
language. Click “Next”.
In the window which appears now, you still have the option of setting the date and time as
well as the time zone. On clicking “Next” the system recovery is continued.
Now the various system settings are carried out and Windows is started.
This process takes a few minutes (about 2 minutes).
To change the language and keyboard settings under Windows, click "Start" and select
"Control Panel" under "Settings“.
In the "Control Panel" window, double click "Regional and Language Options“
Under the "Regional Options“ tab, select the desired language and your location. Then
click the "Languages" tab.
1.
Now, first select the language used in menus and dialogs and then click "Details".
If the keyboard language matching your device configuration is not displayed, click "Add"
and select the appropriate language in the subsequent windows.
Now click the "Advanced" tab and select the desired language in this window as well.
Click “OK”.
Acknowledge the displayed message with "OK".
In the two windows appearing now, click "Yes".
The VAS 6150 is restarted now with the previously set language.
language.
You will likewise find the VAS-PC software on the VAS 6150 under
D:\VAS_SW_Backup\Basis_CD15\setupstart
The software installation takes about 5 minutes.
After successful installation, the VAS-PC software must be started once and then closed.
3.12 Step 11: Connection and configuration of the VAS 5054A remote
diagnosis head or the VAS 5055 diagnostic interface
Before setting up the VAS 5054A remote diagnosis head, please ensure that the
Bluetooth interface in the VAS 6150 is switched on!
For further connection and configuration of the VAS 5054A remote diagnosis head or
the VAS 5055 diagnostic interface, please follow the appropriate chapters of the
device manual "VAS5054A_VAS5055_mit_VAS5052A_VAS6150_GER_V1_11.pdf".
The abbreviation “GER” stands for the language version and displays the desired
language.
