Welcome to the Banco de la República and its Bogotá Gold Museum. The exhibitions were
completely renovated in 2008, in an enlarged building with magnificent architecture. The Gold
Museum's permanent exhibition invites you to discover the history of how gold and other metals
were used by the pre-Hispanic societies who lived in the land today known as Colombia. It is
displayed in four exhibition galleries and an exploration area, all of which you can visit in whatever
order you prefer:
•The Working of Metals describes the mining and manufacturing techniques employed by the
ancient metallurgists.
• People and Gold in Pre-Hispanic Colombia reveals how and in what contexts people used metals
as part of their political and religious organisation.
• Cosmology and Symbolism explores mythical subjects, shamanism, and the symbology of metals.
• The Offering immerses the visitor in the world of ceremonies at which offerings were made.
• The Exploratorium encourages interactivity and reflection on the diversity and meaning of the
heritage that is preserved in the Museum.
The Museum of Art of the Banco of the Republic is a building with two big rooms, each one of 500
square meters, to shelter temporary exhibitions of international height. The complex, in addition,
there includes the small square Gregorio Vásquez of Maple, a zone of infantile workshops, and an
audience with capacity for 160 persons. The construction of three floors, inaugurated in 2004, was
designed by the of Bogotá architect Enrique Triana Uribe who, for this project, received the
National Prize of Architecture 2006. Rooms of temporary exhibitions The museum possesses two
rooms of temporary exhibitions.
El Museo de Arte del Banco de la República es un edificio con dos grandes salas, cada una de 500
metros cuadrados, para albergar exposiciones temporales de talla internacional. El complejo,
además, abarca la plazoleta Gregorio Vásquez de Arce, una zona de talleres infantiles, y un
auditorio con capacidad para 160 personas. La construcción de tres pisos, inaugurada en 2004, fue
diseñada por el arquitecto bogotano Enrique Triana Uribe quien, por este proyecto, recibió el
Premio Nacional de Arquitectura 2006. Salas de exposiciones temporales El museo cuenta con dos
salas de exposiciones temporales.
Monserrate

The view of Bogota enjoyed from Monserrate, the faith that evokes its Sanctuary and every stone
that was put in place for that purpose, its pilgrims, gardens, fountains, gastronomy, cloud forests,
sunsets, starry nights and majestic moon make the experience of visiting Monserrate unique.
Church
Monserrate is the Colombian’s capital symbol par excellence, not only as a natural effigy, but
because of its religious character whose Sanctuary has been visited by millions of pilgrims since its
founding in 1640.
Located in a colonial building whose decoration evokes the solemn, tranquil and loving city of half
of the XIX century offers to its visitors a select French menu in a romantic and cozy atmosphere. It
has been famous for the last 35 years because of its annual gastronomic seasons.

Located in the top of the Monserrate Hill with the beautiful city of Bogota like main landscape, this
restaurant offers its visitors the opportunity to taste Colombian plates. Another one of the
enchantments of this restaurant is that it works in a beautiful house constructed in 1924 in the
town of Usaquén, and transferred to the Monserrate Hill in 1979.
San Andrés
In a space of eight hectares in the center of the island, in which he reigns the fresh and pure air,
there is the Botanical Garden in which it is possible to observe the flora that has survived from the
age of the dinosaurs, up to the most evolved plants that have seat in this piece of the Antilles. This
garden, which belongs to the National University of Colombia, possesses the additional attraction
of a viewing-point of 12 meters of high place, 360 degrees of sight, from where it can appreciate
great part of the forest with which it counts the island and oriental margen of the Caribbean sea.
Inside this viewing-point also there are thematic murals that show how he is San Andrés, his flora
and his fauna, from the sea bed up to the clouds. There one understands, also, the geological
particularities of which this one is an island of coral and not volcanic, since they are the majority.
En un espacio de ocho hectáreas en el centro de la isla, en el que reina el aire fresco y puro, está el
Jardín Botánico en el que se puede observar la flora que ha sobrevivido desde la era de los
dinosaurios, hasta las plantas más evolucionadas que tienen asiento en este pedazo de las Antillas.
Este jardín, que pertenece a la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, cuenta con el atractivo adicional
de un mirador de 12 metros de alto, con 360 grados de vista, desde donde puede apreciarse gran
parte del bosque con que cuenta la isla y la margen oriental del mar Caribe.
En el interior de este mirador también hay murales temáticos que muestran cómo es San Andrés,
su flora y su fauna, desde el fondo del mar hasta las nubes. Allí uno entiende, también, las
particularidades geológicas de que ésta sea una isla de coral y no volcánica, como son la mayoría.
La Cueva de Morgan

Ésta es una atracción turistica de la Isla que marca la diferencia, ya que allí te puedes rodear de

It is a sanctuary of flora and fauna located in San Andrés's oriental side, Colombia, in the bays
Hooker and Haynes, closely together of the downtown. In this site the travelers can observe a
system of swamps in which they live mussels, crabs, iguanas and lizards, as endemic and migratory
birds.
Es un santuario de flora y fauna ubicado en el lado oriental de San Andrés, Colombia, en las bahías
Hooker y Haynes, muy cerca del centro de la ciudad. En este sitio los viajeros pueden observar un
sistema de manglares en el que habitan mejillones, cangrejos, iguanas y lagartos, al igual que aves
endémicas y migratorias.
