1. Executive Summary
Pharmaceutical Industry in Bangladesh has shown an excellent growth in recent years. At the same
time the Pharmaceutical industry is becoming increasingly competitive with stringent requirement of
regulatory compliance. They are in continuous pressure to optimize supply & demand chain
performance, improve regulatory compliance and market share in parallel. More importantly, they are
trying to figure out how to make their businesses more profitable in such a competitive environment.
Having a more complete knowledge of the entire enterprise—objectives, measures, targets and
initiatives—an effective tracking and reporting can give pharmaceutical companies the competitive
edge. The current effort is to go beyond just tracking and reporting. Smart Pharmaceutical companies
are now putting extend focus to make sure the optimized utilization of each resource along with
monitoring of processes related to internal and external regulatory and quality assurance requirement.
XYZ Pharmaceuticals is a new entrant in pharmaceutical industry of Bangladesh. But it is not new in
Global perspective. It has pharmaceutical operation in Middle East, Africa and Europe. XYZ
Pharmaceutical is planning to start its operation in Bangladesh very soon. From the beginning XYZ
Pharmaceutical is focusing on quality, resource optimization, diversification, strong market presence
and regulatory compliance at its full length. For a successful transmission of this vision and focus at
operational level XYZ Pharmaceutical is looking an ERP solution which will work as virtual replica of all
business process at practice. The initial focus areas of implementing EFP for XYZ Pharmaceuticals are
Human Resource, Sales & Distribution, Finance & Accounting, Procurement, Production Planning,
Quality Control and In-Process Management. To achieve competitive edge in managing the operation
XYZ Pharmaceuticals needs the ERP partner with proven experience and performance in

company to another pharmaceutical company, one geography to geography. LEADS has the experience

3. Business Requirement

3.1. Business opportunity and customer need


XYZ pharmaceutical currently planning to lunch their operation from December 2008. In traditional
system people who are responsible for managing operation of sales, distribution & production activities
has to under go huge and monotonous paper work. They can’t spend required time in creative thinking
or planning. The result is “failing to plan, planning to fail” – a very common scenario for unsuccessful
organization. Similarly the traditional manufacturing process is unmanageable & very much prone to
regulatory and quality non-compliance. Bottom line results in poor production & ROI.

Sales & Distribution team aspires a system which will help them to strategize, plan and monitor field
force activities and market response. Optimization of sales & distribution resources and improvement
of their Productivity is the key area of opportunity for XYZ Pharmaceuticals.

4. Solution Architecture
System will be designed web enable n-tier architecture approach and object oriented fashion. The
application will be designed with a clear separation between layers as shown in illustration below.

Presentation Layer
This is the layer that provides an interface for the end user into the application. That is, it works with
the results/output of the BLL to handle the transformation into something usable and readable by the
end user. Objects of presentation layer are web Pages.

Business Logic Layer Component (BLL)


This is the layer which takes care of all business logic. It contains things like the business rules, data
manipulation etc. The presentation layer connects directory to the BLL which in turn communicates
with DAL. The presentation layer will not communicate directly with the DAL.

Data Access Logic Component (DAL)


The data access layer is responsible for communication with the under laying database and provides
the usual Create, Retrieve, Update, Delete (CRUD) SQL operations.

5. Operating Environment
OE-1: The System will operate with Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher
OE-2: The Pop-up blocker must be disabled to allow Pop-ups (additional features).
OE-3: System shall operate on a server that is running Internet Information Services 6 (IIS6).
OE-4: System will support SQL Server 2005 and Oracle 11g both environment
OE-5: Application server and database server should be separated

7. Change Control
The “Change Control Process” governs changes to the Project scope during the life of the Project. The
purpose of this process is to coordinate and properly document the development, installation, and
evaluation of new features and functionality during the Project. The process will apply to new
components and to enhancements of existing Project components. The Change Control Process will be
implemented at the start of the Project and will continue throughout the Project's duration.
A “Change Request Form” will be the vehicle for communicating any desired changes to the Project. It
will describe the change, the reason for the change, and the effect the change may have on the
Project.
Authorized person of Customer side will submit a written Change Request to the Project Manager for
the other party.Both LEADS and authorized person of Customer side will review the proposed Change
Request Form and approve it for further study or reject it. The costs for the study, if any, will be
agreed upon by both LeadSoft and you. The results of the study will be used to determine the effect
that the implementation of the Change Request will have on the cost and schedule of the Project.
The change management process will be applicable for scenarios which are not considered in the SRS
and hence evaluated effort will be chargeable to customer.
Both LeadSoft and authorized person of Customer side must sign the approved Change Request Form to
authorize the implementation.

15.General Terms & Conditions


Following software development terms will be applied:

 XYZ Pharmaceuticals will provide OS and Database (Microsoft Windows Server and Microsoft SQL
Server) for ERP Software.
 XYZ Pharmaceuticals will provide required hardware and Network connectivity (LAN / WAN).
 XYZ Pharmaceuticals will ensure necessary anti-virus infrastructure.
 XYZ Pharmaceuticals will provide all the required forms and reports currently in use.
 XYZ Pharmaceuticals will use proposed ERP software within the XYZ Pharmaceuticals
 LEADS will keep all business rules proprietary to XYZ Pharmaceuticals confidential.
 LEADS will install and configure proposed ERP software at XYZ Pharmaceuticals’ Head Office.
 LEADS will organize sufficient resources to accomplish the job in scheduled time.
 LEADS will not be engaged in any real time data entry operation.
 LEADS will provide adequate training on custom application software to 10 users of XYZ
Pharmaceuticals.
 Maintenance consideration of proposed custom application software will be:
 Maintenance will cover error free operation of custom application software.
 LEADS will provide maintenance support for three months from the day of implementation
without any additional charges.
 Any Major changes in database, input form and output report will not be covered under
maintenance.
 Incorporation of major changes and enhancements regarding business rules of
 XYZ Pharmaceuticals will not be covered under maintenance.
 Maintenance will only cover smooth operation of existing scope, mentioned in final
