History-

The history of baseball can be broken down into various aspects: by era, by locale, by
organizational-type, game evolution, well as by political and cultural influence. Baseball evolved
from older bat-and-ball games already being played in England by the mid-18th century. This
game was brought by immigrants to North America, where the modern version developed. By
the late 19th century, baseball was widely recognized as the national sport of the United States.
Baseball is popular in North America and parts of Central and South America, the Caribbean,
and East Asia, particularly in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.
References to baseball date back to the 1700s where in Tudor England it was known as a game
called rounders. Rounders is referenced in 1744 in the children's book A Little Pretty Pocket-
Book where it was called Baseball. In 1871 the first professional league, the National
Association of Professional Base Ball Players, was founded. Five years later, the National League
was created; it was followed by the American League in 1901. The first World Series between
the champions of the two major leagues was held in 1903, and by 1905 it became an annual
event. Baseball early in the 20th century was characterized by low-scoring games, but the dead-
ball era ended in the early 1920s with rule changes and the rise of power hitter Babe Ruth. The
major leagues had a color barrier that lasted until 1947, when Jackie Robinson made his debut.
The major leagues began the process of expansion in 1961 and attendance increase from the
mid-1970s to 1994, when a work stoppage led to the cancellation of the World Series.
Professional baseball leagues featured teams from Canada as early as 1877, and the sport
spread to numerous countries in the 1800s and 1900s. It was played in the Olympics as a medal
sport from 1992 to 2008. Other competitions between national teams include the Baseball
World Cup and the World Baseball Classic, which was first held in 2006.

The Equipment-
Baseball specific shoes worn by the player for better traction. The cleats
themselves are either rubber or metal. A weighted ring that fits over the end of a
baseball bat, used for warming up during a baseball game. A doughnut can help
increase bat speed.
The Field-
The game of baseball is played on a baseball field. Another name for the baseball
field is the "diamond" because of the shape of the infield. The infield is the area
from the grass line in to home plate. It includes all the bases and is where most of
the action in the game of baseball takes place.

The Baseball Rules And Regulations-

A game is played out between two teams, each made up of 9 players. The game
lasts for 9 innings with each team alternating between batting and fielding in each
inning. The scores at the end of the innings are added to a cumulative score and
the team with most points wins. Each team has three outs per inning before they
then swap roles. Each inning can be broken down into the top (where the away
team bats), and the bottom (where the home team bats).

The field is split into two sections: infield and outfield. Separating the infield and
outfield is a diamond shape with four bases, spaced at 90 feet apart each. In the
center of the infield is the pitching mound where the pitcher stands and throws
the ball toward the batter. The batter stands at the home plate. The other three
bases are known as first base, second base and third base. The batter must touch
all bases before successfully scoring a run.
The bats are made out of either wood, aluminium or metal materials. The ball is
white with red stitching and is roughly 3 inches in diameter. The fielding team
wear ‘mits’, which are basically an oversized glove to help them catch and pick up
the ball. The catcher (standing behind the batter to catch any balls missed) wears
extra padding in their glove, along with leg guards, a body pad, and a helmet.
Skills In Baseball

Hitting-
Every good hitter will do these 7 things on a perfect swing. Sometimes,
depending on a pitch, not all 7 will be attained every time. It’s important to
remember that hitting is a battle, and sometimes using your athletic ability to hit
a ball will trump all the perfect mechanics we will talk about.

Catching-
In baseball, a catch occurs when a fielder gains secure possession of a batted ball
in flight, and maintains possession until he voluntarily or intentionally releases the
ball.[1] When a catch occurs, the batter is out, and runners, once they properly
tag up (retouch their time-of-pitch base), may attempt to advance at risk of being
tagged out.
Unlike in American football and other sports, neither secure possession for a time
nor for a number of steps is enough to demonstrate that a catch has occurred. A
fielder may, for example, appear to catch and hold a batted ball securely, take a
few more steps, collide with a wall or another player, and drop the ball. This is not
a catch.
Throwing-
When kids are taught to throw, often the instruction is watered down into just a
couple of steps. The act of throwing a baseball is not that simple. Throwing
requires the entire body to work together in order to throw the ball accurately
and to put something on it. All positions on the field require the ability to throw
the ball accurately. Good throwing mechanics will enable you to make plays.

Base Running-
In baseball, base running is the act of running from base to base, performed by
members of the team at bat.
Base running is a tactical part of the game with the goal of eventually reaching
home base (home plate) to score a run. Batters strive to become base runners,
and to enable existing base runners to move to a subsequent base or to score.

Skills In Softball

Pitching-
The softball pitch is a relatively simple motion, consisting of a step forward from
the mound onto the foot on the non pitching arm side, weight shift onto this foot,
and rotation of the shoulders and trunk to a position facing the batter.
Softball Rules-
Each team bats once in each innings before the sides switch. The fielding team
has a pitcher, catcher, a player on first base, second base, third base, three deep
fielders and short stop. A batter must successfully strike the ball and run around
as many bases as possible.
