Countries all over the world have been facing during the last decades
difficult challenges in terms of delivering robust and cost-effective water
management services, whilst dealing with urbanization growth and
climate change problems alongside that. With this scenario, Water
Sensitive Urban Design can be a stepping stone towards a better
management of our urban waters, based on the protection and
enhancement of natural system within urban environments, an
integrative approach of the surface water management into
developments, and a management of the water resources to maintain
groundwater levels and surface water flows.
