FABRICATION OF THREE AXIS PNEUMATIC MODERN

TRAILER
ABSTRACT:
In industrial and domestic considerations, tippers can pull a variety of
products including gravel, grain, sand, fertilizer, heavy rocks, etc. By considering
wide scope of the topic, it is necessary to do study and research on the topic of
tipper mechanism in order to make it more economical and efficient. In existing
system, tipper can unload only in one side by using pneumatic cylinder. By this
research it is easy for the driver to unload the trailer and also it reduces time and
fuel consumption.
For making tipper mechanism with such above conditions pneumatic
cylinder can be used, this paper has mainly focused on above difficulty. Hence a
prototype of suitable arrangement has been designed. The vehicles can be
unloaded from the trailer in three axes without application of any impact force.
The Direction control valves which activate the ram of the pneumatic cylinder
which lifting the trailer cabin in require side. By this research it is easy for the
driver to unload the trailer and it reduces the time.
INTRODUCTION:
Trailer system is widely used for material transportation in big construction
projects. Due to its load carrying capacity and material handling facilities, trailers
are being used as popular load carriers. In most cases where road width is not
sufficient, trailers face the problems while unloading the material. It takes a lot
of time to unload a single trolley as all material cannot be unloaded at same place.
Hence additional time is required for turning of vehicle in highly congested area.
Also in case of large trolleys, if all the material is unloaded at one place additional
manpower is required to arrange the material properly which finally increases
material handling cost.
At the same time, the trailers unload the material backside i.e. in one axis
only. Modern Three Axis pneumatic Trailer incorporates the pneumatic cylinder
and it is used to lift the load. The main purpose of this project is to unload the
material in three directions instead of conventional trailer system in which the
unloading is done in one direction. This system is very much useful in
constructional sites having low turning space, to reduce the additional labour cost.
It gives the small fabrication of small model to have clear understanding of idea.
LITERATURE REVIEW:
Amboji Sudhakar R. et al studied that Tipper has lots of applications in

today’s world. In industrial and domestic considerations, tippers can haul a

variety of products including gravel, potatoes, grain, sand, compost, heavy rocks,

etc. By considering wide scope of the topic, it is necessary to do study and

research on the topic of tipper mechanism in order to make it more economical

and efficient. In existing system, tipper can unload only in one side by using

hydraulic jack or conveyor mechanism. By this research it is easy for the driver

to unload the trailer and also it reduces time and fuel consumption.

For making tipper mechanism with such above conditions both

mechanisms namely hydraulic jack and conveyor mechanism can be used. But

eventually it comes with question that how both systems can arrange in single set

up? Answer to this question is nothing but this research work.

Alley &McLellan of Glasgow studied hydraulics was being incorporated

into truck mounted dump bodies relatively early on, in which record shows one

of the first hydraulic dump bodies was the Robertson Steam Wagon with a

hydraulic hoist that received power from the truck’s engine or an independent
steam engine was developed another early hydraulic dump body in 1907 that was

power-driven by steam. Hydraulics was being incorporated into truck mounted

dump bodies relatively early on, in which record shows one of the first hydraulic

dump bodies was the Robertson Steam Wagon with a hydraulic hoist that

PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION:
By considering wide scope of the topic, it is necessary to do study and

research on the topic of tipper mechanism in order to make it more economical

and efficient. In existing system, tipper can unload only in one side by using

conveyor mechanism. By this research it is easy for the driver to unload the trailer

and also it reduces time and fuel consumption. For making tipper mechanism with

such above conditions pneumatic cylinder can be used.

ADVANTAGE:

 Can be used in very compact places.

 Easy for the driver to unload the trailer in multi directions.

 Reduces time and fuel consumption.

 Can be used in very compact places

 Where reversing & turning of vehicle is difficult

 Accommodate on dam site working

 Saves time & energy


APPLICATION:

It can used for all type of material handling industries and heavy load

transportations.

FABRICATION LAYOUT:

 This Pneumatic cylinder arrangement actuates on motor driven which makes

the prototype semi-automatic.

 The material unloading process is done in three axis with the help of locking

arrangement and pneumatic system.

 The direction control valve is used to control the flow direction of the

pneumatic cylinder in both the direction.

 The Pneumatic cylinder is mounted on the rotating plates with locking

arrangement of trailer. The high pressure air goes to the Pneumatic cylinder.
 The air pushes the pneumatic cylinder piston and move forward.

 The piston moves towards the upward direction and the trailer body is lifting

the cabinet upwards and material is unloading in one direction by help of

locking arrangement.

 The Pneumatic Cylinder is Mounted on the rotating plates with tiled angle of

60 degree which is rotated with the help of assembly of a motor, with the help

of which cylinder is rotated in 360 degree to unload material in three

direction.

 The 2nd end of cylinder is fixed at the centre of trailer with the help of other

rotating circular plates.

 When unloading of material is done in another axis then direction of cylinder

change with the help of rotating plates.
