The umbilical winch is a single drum winch powered by a hydraulic motor that is fixed to the drum via a pinion shaft and gearbox. The drum can store up to 400 meters of 96mm diameter umbilical cable. It includes a rotating joint assembly inside the drum and a slip ring assembly on the opposite side to allow electrical and communication services while the vessel tilts. Umbilical Winch
The Umbilical Winch is a single drum winch, driven by a Hagglunds hydraulic motor, fixed to
the drum with a pinion shaft and reduction gear. The drum is built to store up to 400 meters
of Bell Umbilical cable, 96mm in diameter.

The rotating joint assembly is installed inside the drum, on one side of hydraulic motor in
correspondence with the drum axis. On the opposite side a slip ring assembly is installed
for electric and communication services.

The spooling system permits operation also when the vessel is tilting.
The Umbilical Winch controls the Main Umbilical, deploying and recovering the bell with
constant tension on the cable, and providing gas and electrical interconnection between the
Main Umbilical and the on board Bell Control Console.
