Introduction
When a young programmer has been lied by his boss and all of his achievements
are getting stole, there is a destiny to him to take back what originally his.
Tron, which had directed by Steven Lisberger, acted by Jeff Bridges, Bruce
Boxleitner, David Warner, Cindy Morgan, Barnard Hughe and released in 9th July
1982, is going to re-release in 9th July 2019. We choose the same date for the re-
release date to make the Tron’s fans having some excitement as going back to that
time and seeing the movie again. We also have a remake poster which had a tagline
of ‘On the other side of the screen, it all looked so easy...’ that had spoken by Jeff
Bridges, it will also attract the fans coming to watch the movie.
Target Audience
The re-release Tron will appear predominantly to males aged between 18 and 60
years old, who are teenagers and men that had seen the original version before. The
digital world and genre of science fiction will more attracted the male audiences. We
also sure that it will attract the teenagers who are having interest in previous
technologies and having some learnings through the movie.
Marketing Strategies
1. We are going to re-release the film at the same date as the original film’s
release date, to make the fans enabled to memorise the excitement that they
felt when they watched the film before. We also have invited the main cast
Jeff Bridges, Bruce Boxleither and Cindy Morgan to the cinema to enjoy the
film with their fans. After the premiere, they will have a signature meeting for
the audience. This will be a big charming point for the fans to come and watch
the movie.
2. We are going to have some press conferences for the cast to make sure the
audience know about the details of the events. They will publish the
information of the re-release film to spread the events more quickly. Besides,
we are gonna setting up some TV programs to the cast to publicise the film.
We are also going to set up some fans meetings before the re-release date to
do the give back to fans.
3. We will launch some spin-off products as the collections for the fans. Except
some prototypes from the original film, we will also launch some new design
item to attract the teenagers, so it will make the marketing area wider.
Besides, we make them to the sets, for example, kid set, limited set, or even a
lover set, as the film has a genre of romance that Lora and Kevin have fallen
in love to each other, so we can publish a lover set for the lover. With the
spin-off products and sets, we can have placed a higher price on them, and
increase our income. We also have the cooperations with some popular fast
food restaurant like McDonald so kids can get the products through the happy
meal for an example.
The Poster
We are using a more modern background and font to attract the new generations
audience, but also the original character to attract the fans. Using black colour for the
whole body to make mystery part to a modern audience that hasn’t seen this movie
yet. Besides, we use the tagline ‘on the other side of the screen, it all looked so
easy…’, original fans will know that this is the part that acted by Jeff Bridges, but the
modern audiences who haven’t watched it before, it takes a chance to keep this
mystery part to them and reveal it on the re-release date. With the connection of the
modern and original, we mainly design the poster as simple as we can, emphasis the
simple of the digital world. Without the words of the production group, it makes the
poster became more simple not so complicated, easy to capture the main point.
