Using S9 series with ADL radio

This tutorial refer to the Pacific Crest external radio model ADL Vantage and ADL
Vantage Pro.

Connect the ADL radio to the battery and to a Pc serial port using the proper cable.
Start the program ADLCONF:

Click on “Connect” button:

Select the correct COM port number and baud-rate, push “Ok”, the software will
open the connection and read the radio configuration, click “Yes” when software
asks you if you want to overwrite the configuration.

Once software is connected with radio, the information about radio will appear,
please observe which is the firmware version, this information can be useful in the
future for solving possible problems or firmware update.

Select “Radio link” menu: you can read the current channel frequencies, settings (Air
baud-rate, Sensitivity, etc.), and you can select also the output power level. If you
are not expert please leave the default settings or at least ask before any
modifications.

Select the “Serial Interface” menu: you can select the communication protocol in
“Protocol -> Protocol Type” box and the serial port baud-rate in “Port –> Baud rate”.

Select “Frequencies” menu: here you can modify the frequency in the receiving
channels, on the contrary it is not possible for end user to modify the transmitting
frequencies.

select specific protocol and frequencies, a table below show you the correct settings
of protocol and first three channel frequencies:

(If your radio has the latest firmware “3.04.2281”, please check in “Frequencies”
menu if TX frequencies are set, if not the radio will not transmit, so ask to
support@stonex.it for solving the problem).

Once the radio has been configured you can push “Program” button for confirm the
settings:

Then push “Yes”:

You can save the configuration into a text file:

Then push “Exit” from closing the program and finally push “Continue”:

In the menu “File” you have the possibility to upgrade the radio firmware selecting
“Upgrade modem Firmware”: you can check on website
http://www.pacificcrest.com/support.php?page=updates
if a new firmware for your radio model is available.

Another option is to import a specific configuration file (.dat extension)
selecting the button “Import”.
